The game reminded me of all the things that were going wrong for us last year and early this year. We'd have everything flowing and be 1 decision from a walk in goal and stuff it.

Sicily kicking into Amon's back, we had loose players out but it's a goal against.

Hardwick tick into port players head.

Newcombe doing the exact thing Mitchell was giving Scrimshaw a spray for against gold coast. Risky kick to the middle with 30 seconds left.

Impy taking too long and getting caught.

Dear handball go Moore.

Weddle trying to take 2 players on 50 out instead of just putting it on the boot.

Sicily dropped mark then dribbler that missed.

Ginnivan not scoring on the snap

Moore hitting post.

Ward and Moore messing it up in the middle.

Little things were if we are on and not daunted by pressure we just tap it to the spare, or take the first option.

...I don't think Sam had his best coaching game though. Start of the 4th, scores level. Sends Sicily forward at the start of the quarter. Port bang on 3 quick goals. Yes Sicily was dangerous up forward after that, but it definitely unsettling us down back. Just thought it was a bit desperate, kinda playing hero ball at that stage when we didn't have to...
I actually think Mitchell coached really well. We were nowhere near it tonight but Moore (stoppage) Sicily (forward) and even Chol into the ruck all gave us some impetus in areas of the ground where we were deficient.
If he doesn't swing those magnets we lose by 6 goals

Yep. They played better than us. They put in a great performance, and that's the very first thing they think of doing after a win.

Imagine that was your leadership? Have you ever seen anything so pathetic?

It’s so bad … one of the most humble champions of the game is about to be chaired off for his 300th…it’s literally why you are standing there.

You won’t get a better opportunity to show humility and appreciation in victory after what was a great finals win for them.

Instead you carry-on like a precious bogan and mouth off to the opposition players after the game is done, zero grace, zero humility, zero leadership, zero respect.

Not only have you disrespected Bruest and his moment, you’ve taken the focus off what should be pride in your team’s performance after embarrassing yourselves last week.

To have the captain think it’s hilarious and not put an arm around him to shut him him up shows how juvenile that club must be.

Really proud of the club. Port were on top for most of that game, so to be right in the game up until the final siren was a great effort.

I think it goes to show thay Sam has built a game plan and team that withstands finals football. We almost won that game when we weren't playing out best.

If we were already down a gew goals, sure that move would make sense. But not when scores were level and we were kinda grinding our way to be on top.
Yeh I think this showed how much the loss of Frost mattered.

We needed someone forward who could really own that part of the ground. Sicily kicked 1.2 in a quarter and almost stole the game.

With Frost in defence those three goals def wouldn't have happened. Maybe 1 or 2 sure, but not 3 in a row. We had to rob peter to pay paul and it almost worked

And?

As I said if a club needs that kind of thing for motivation it goes along way to explain why theyre a choking hazard.

Yep, if they need that to motivate them, how are they ever going to prepare for their next final? I seriously worry about people who honestly feel it made a scrap of difference.

Some people criticise Hodge, Lewis and Burgoyne for not being pro Hawthorn in their media gigs. There was no hiding their true loyalties tonight as each expressed their disgust at Hinkley’s behaviour
Does Shaun still work at Port?

But it bodes well all the Burgoyne kids in Hawks colours tonight. Hope we pick up Kye and Shaun has a word to his nephew who tore us apart tonight.

Listening to Hinkley’s presser, Ginnivan’s post probably cost us that game.

The game plan needs a tweak, we were the hunted tonight. Not aggressive enough.
I would not have re-signed Gunston or Bruest. Neither will be in the team if we make a prelim or better in 2025. And Sicily should have kicked that goal. It hit the top of the post from 51m - there was no need to run around. We had a great crack but are still a fair way off winning three or four finals. I have no doubt we will do the work required to be better in 2025.

Pick 13 for Barrass straight swap, nothing extra needed. Let’s hope we good a good one with Pick 30.

Into tonight’s team: Day, Lewis, Barrass, Battle

Mad disrespect to Frost.

he plays tonight and we win. Even without Day and Mackenzie.

He plays every week next year even if we pick up Battle and TB. Play Sis forward, and release Weddle.

you’re a good poster. Go and have a good lie down if you think Ginni being a flog (our flog) on social media has anything to do with the outcome
According to Ken it was a primary factor. If you believe it, then it is true. It worked for them. Ginni had a bad week.

Seriously. It was a semifinal, Port Adelaide needed to win, if they needed Ginnivan's tweet to motivate them, they are a pretty sorry bunch. It wouldn't have made a scrap of difference.

What made a difference was Ginnivan's opponent being best on ground and Ginnivan being among our worst.

It might have made no difference to Port but GInnivan's post smacked of personal complacency and, I'm afraid, given what happened out on the ground, it played out exactly that way. He acted like the game was already won. Well, it wasn't.

Hopefully a lesson learned. But it was a ****ing costly lesson when a possible Grand Final was up for grabs.

On to next year. Go Hawks.

People were looking past port because it's a hell of a lot better than crying about losing before it's

What a game - like I'm just so proud of the team:
  • Newcombe is genuinely elite. Averaging 33 touches this finals series. Neither doggies or port had an answer for him.
  • Chol didn't kick a bag - but I loved his game tonight. I don't think he got a single kick to his advantage tonight - but he tapped, competed, stayed on his feet, chased and tackled all night long.
  • Wizard earned his stripes tonight. Last week we were on top all night. Tonight we struggled and he still kicked 3. Averaging 3.5 goals a final across his career.
  • We were one classy mid short. That's McKenzie or Will Day - or another year into Ward.
  • We are not used to a team that can hold tackles like Port did tonight. So many plays thwarted cos he couldn't break a tackle that we normally would. Well done Port.
  • I'd give anything for a forward that can mark a big kick into the forward line. Sorely missing again tonight. Chol and Dar are both jumping players, not contest players
  • Scrimshaw deserves 1.2 over 4 years
  • Impey, Amon, Ginni and CMac are icing rather than cake. All four worked hard but if thes guys are getting 20+ it means it's an open game and we are well in control
  • Love Meek .
*Hardwick was so hot and cold tonight. Love him. Feel bad for him. Rioli was awesome tonight.
With arrival of Battle and Barrass, that man is Sicily. Scrim the interceptor at large, Sic up forward reading the flight

A big thumbs up to Hawk legends Lewis and Hodge for calling out the embarrassing Hinkley.

And Bucks, you have definitely lost a lot of respect in your ‘neutral’ views on the situation. Not only did we have to listen to the Port call all night on Channel 7, you blatantly continued the crap on Fox.

Take a good long hard look at yourself.

Conor Rozee getting giddy with a shiteating grin watching and laughing at Ken mouth off at opposition players after a win says it all.

That’s the leadership of your club, the couch and the captain - what an embarrassment.
Yeah found that poor as Wines was trying to get Ken to shut up and Butters who is such a shit stirrer was right there and stayed out. Didn’t look good at all from Ken but loved Sam’s presser bout it cause u can tell that will galvanise the group

Was a great contest. Red hot pressure for a half and fatigue kicked in early in the 2nd half. Port played well. So did we. We lost by 3 points to the team that finished 2nd at their home ground. We didn’t lose by 80. Amazing season. Ginni ran his mouth and copped some back. It’s all harmless. Take your medicine and get on with it. The loss should light a fire for the group to go even better next season.

Buckley is still a Port man, always has been.

So what you are trying to make us believe is it was totally Ginnivan's fault we lost? Ridiculous.

A 60 year old man mouthing off to a 21 year old on a football field just has an off feel about it. Mark this in the calendar, no more losses to these flogs. We lost the game ourselves and feel that we let a great opportunity slip to keep going. Port aren't much chop, we were however, terrible. Hopefully McKenzie, Ward and Day come along next year and become bona fide A graders as we do need it going frwd. Feels like a abrupt end to more things to come this season. Oh well, well done boys, great effort.
Do you not understand that this comment in itself shows disrespect to the opposition? Although a supporter from another club, I understand that no disrespect was intended by Ginni. And yes, the coach should have been a better person. Port played out of their skins and were the better team even though the result could have been different. I admire the culture at your club and wish that it was as good at mine. Will also be envious of the improvement that seems to be on the cards. And yes, Will Day is your number 1 player and would likely have meant a different outcome. Stay positive as seems to be the case with most of your fellow supporters. Good times await.

So proud of the club of what they have managed to achieve this year regardless of the outcome.

The future is looking great Hawthorn fans👍

Apart from our obvious good players that have been mentioned i just wanted to give a special mention to both Fin Maginness and Harry Morisson tonight they were both great.👍
