True.
But I can't see either the clubs or AFL volunteering.
See what happened to Hawthorn when they broke the cardinal rule, namely never set up an enquiry unless you already know the result.

I agree the AFL and clubs will want to maintain control

I think it is too far gone though. If a couple of the ex-Hawks first nations affected refuse to participate , because they don't trust the process, the AFL isn't going to be able to control that narrative

I hope there is a thorough review of all clubs, and well as a complete and utter review and overhaul of both indigenous/mental health/welfare support at all levels of the game.

Big chance for the AFL to do what NRL continually completely overlook when there are indiscretions.

For all we know there could be other former/current players that have had similar experiences. Shouldn't just end with the Hawthorn saga.

Unfortunate there hasn't been more general discussion about this and from the media (although they are starting from a very low bar)

Yeah i'd hope that the Saints do one.
I don't think they'd turn up as many skeletons ( though of course neither would the Hawks ).
The Hawks seemed to think they had good methods to deal with problem kids, and most of the discussion we Saints supporters had at the time was that the Saints would have been ill equipped to take on those types. We're just now seeing how heavy handed the methods might have been.

How do you know it wasn't Kennet throwing a hand grenade?
The biggest hit Hawthorn will likely cop is some financial restitution, and an apology for the conduct of their former employees.

Why is that? The club commissioned the report. The report actually states the culture is fantastic at the moment. This is backed up by both Amon & Brockman signing up.

They are ex employees.

And by 2016 Essendon had hands down the most robust WADA compliant program in the game.

Still got smashed to pieces, and rightfully so.

Saying ‘we’ll it’s all good now’ doesn’t remotely absolve the club of its failings.

He's either lying, or so ******* stupid that he shouldn't even have a high AFL role anyway. Also he comes across as even more of a twat in these responses.

If the actual e-mails can be analysed, the metadata can reveal a lot.
You'd be stupid to lie about it, because you lies can be outed, but then as you suggested, he might be stupid.

I'd like to know what people think what the punishment will be.
Do only the people named get punished or does the club as a whole cop it.
Individuals.
*Fines.
*Termination of Employment.
*Criminal Charges
Club.
*Massive Fine.
*Draft Exclusion
*Stripped of Premierships or Points for 2023.

Thoughts??

Does the AFL rely on any Commonwealth funding or such?
Every level of government, state federal local, all of them spend money on sports. Your local park got a footy oval? All the piggies that stand by orange witches hats when they close off the road near the MCG, right now AFL asking Tasmania for I think 350 million to build a stadium before they get a team. Lots and lots and lots of money from our taxes go to making this great game it's not all Telstra and Foxtel.

I'd say everything but the last two.

I don't believe you could draw a realistic conclusion from the allegations to on-field punishment of a completely different playing group.

I'll be accused of bias, but I'd feel the same way no matter which club was involved.

If what he is saying is even remotely true in his response (unlikely) he should be sacked for gross incompetence.

How many different ways can you say the same thing - blaming others for making up their mind on something when that is exactly what you have done?

This is a thread for discussion on published articles and stories that have received widespread coverage across all media platforms.

The vast majority of us are not denying that Clarkson et al have a right of reply to the allegations but that does not mean we can not or should not discuss the allegations in detail and pass our judgement on their veracity and what it says about our game and the people who run it. And that is the same for your views about it being a media 'stitch up' or choosing to believe that something 'doesn't smell right' about individuals making the allegations.

Trying to shut down discussion with 'pitchfork' comments is juvenile nonsense.

I haven't made up my mind at all. I'm open to whatever a detailed investigation finds.

But carry on.

I just wanted to jump into this thread and say given recent developments I regret being dragged into defending the Hawks at all. This is very sad and I feel for all the people who suffered from this.

Gonna check out of this thread now, but just wanted to say that before I did.
Fair play H2F
