Ive beeb a big advocate of the leadership they bright in when Daniel Cross etc. came across. Do the Hawks need something similar?

(not having a dig) take your Hawks glasses bias off, is there a leadership gap at Glenferrie? At Essendon there has been, is there something similar with the Hawks?
I don’t know the in depth off field; certainly had a fair bit of change after Jeff overstayed, doing the indigenous truth telling etc. we were blessed by lack of injury last year and not coping well with things not going to plan. Led to a lot of dropped heads and a lack of cohesion particularly against GC who are also a young but fast team which is not something we handle well.

was more referencing field. Player wise, many leaders amongst the young group?

Ah fair enough then - day expected to be but is injured, ward but he is still inconsistent (eg played well vs Collingwood but struggled in other games), Newcombe out of form, worpel (not quite youth now) has played well until this week. Generally not a very demonstrative group though (Ginny is but has own issues with umpires right now lol)

Weagles looking the goods today. Looking like they will probably leapfrog Hawks. So Hawks likely finish bottom 2. What is the talent like in this draft outside of the best talent Ashcroft who will go father son?

Because the ladder doesn't change after Round 5.

We aren't tanking, that implies this is all in part by design. The simple answer is we are just rubbish.

Half the players seem unmotivated. We lack on-field leadership. We have a poor development program currently. We look unorganised. Whatever the game plan is; it's not discernible and the players cannot execute it.

Hmm. Realistically it’s hard to see Hawks getting a win against anyone except North and even then… much more talent on Roo’s list. It’s just a bit of an unfortunate situation for Hawthorn.
Saw the same thing being posted last year.

Our very own Davo has Finn O'Sullivan at #1 ahead of Levi.

Followed by Smillie, Lombard (another GCS academy player) and Smith.

Still very early days.

Deafening silence re captain Sicily’s leadership.
Hawks supporters may be happy to dump it here but coach Mitchell will have to deal with it going forward …
Probably more to do with how hard you try to get bites, rather than deafening silence.

The bin pic is apt though, I reckon.
Sicily isn't going anywhere.

I smell a lot of untreated trauma from hawthorn beltings in this thread
Hell yeah. You guys used to absolutely bully us. I remember you beat us once by 130 points. That was a hard day. I remember always being trolled by hawthorn fans as well.

I take great joy in hawthorn losing but I have sympathy for hard rebuilds can be.

You still expecting 10 wins from here?
Squiggle aligned algorithms still tipping us for 8 wins, and I can see us getting there if we can keep our spine on the park.

Oh come now, 🤣
The hawks board is there for everyone to see …
Well, you do spend a lot of time reading there. I'll take your word for it.

We lost by a kick last week to the premiers. Last night was awful and the worst we have played since Gold Coast last year but we haven't been like that all year.

It eventually ended well for Melbourne. Sure it took 10 years and a few coaches..
Gawn, Petracca and Oliver

2 drafts they got the best player in the draft. In the other one, they got the second best player. Then they recruited in their gun KPDs.

You can rise through the draft, but you've got to get very lucky and absolutely nail the picks.

Who made calls of finals?

A list as young as ours can’t cover injuries to key players, and I think you’ve probably even said as much yourself if I was to go searching, but instead you’re choosing to believe you were some oracle for predicting injuries would happen.
I think I have said if everything went almost perfectly, we could make finals. Clearly that ended when the injuries started mounting

The net result of their recruiting in the last two years is essentially Mitchell and JOM out, replaced by Chol and Ginnivan. Just awful from a leadership and list building perspective.

Kick straight against the Bombers and take that last minute chance against the Pies and we're 2-2.
Need to get some players back and build through the middle again.
