So I just heard Essendon have offered 2018 pick 9 and next year’s first round.
Correct call GW. We were never going to restrict ourselves with other trades.
Absolutely.

I feel if he wanted Hawthorn he would have nominated
Maybe it was Hawthorn who asked him not to nominate them till they were sure that could get a deal done. This way they weren’t publicly locked into a trade like the O’Meara deal if gws wanted to much.

Depressing couple of days and then someone suggests Barlowe!

So another star spurs us to win premierships. Hope we are revved up when we play them. Anyway have read that West Coast will go back to back, Tigers and Pies are smarting and Carlton are coming so no guarantees for *.

“You’ll hear my side of the story when the time is right dw (don’t worry) about that,” Wingard posted on Instagram.

“But unless a statement comes from me or my management don’t listen to them.

“Thank you for all the support over the last couple of week it means a lot.”

Its in my view that Chad has responded negatively to feedback in an exit meeting. Perhaps the coach/s need to understand their players better in knowing who will respond best to what kind of feedback, but perhaps Chad needs to harden up and respond to the challenge that has come before him. I suspect the latter is what the PAFC were hoping for, and in doing so hoping to stamp out any sense of entitlement among any players.

Unfortunately, so far he's been responding pretty poorly, and I'm sure that PAFC would have been hoping he'd pull his socks up and go another level again.

If he ends up moving, it'll be a win for the club he goes to, but I also think it might be a win for Port Adelaide given what they're trying to do.

Excuse my naivety, but is there any actual evidence that we were into Sheil? Apart from a few ‘ITK’ posters and the so called journalists like Tony Sheahan, have we had word from the club that we were ever trying to get him? Is it’s possible this has been a huge Bigfooty beat up that the journos have run with?
No, it wasn't a beat up. We were into him, he was into us.

At the end of the day his manager advised him late to look to Bombers as they were willing to overpay in more ways than one to get a deal done(picks, years and $$$).

I would trade nothing for Barlow but a low one year contract if deemed fit enough to assist Worpel, and others with some experience. It was said in half jest but if you got him for almost nothing then yep as would offer a lot more than say O'Rourke.... you could say the same thing about Goddard as I think he could play another year or two but his knob attitude on field would not be tolerated. Again, no trade for these type of blokes and very small pay but with Sam in charge of the Mitchell mid-field is just a thought but again as I mentioned would trade NO picks for anyone now but go for youth. Miles perhaps in hindsight I would hang on to but O'Brien, Langers if you could get something for than personally would say yes...

O'Rourke is already gone. Barlow could assist Worpel best by not taking his spot. We have leaders a plenty. I should underline I meant hat these types would take a spot and hold back the development (you know, why we moved Hodge and Lewis on)

And the Bombers, Connors passing off the lie they offered the least $$$. I just can't tell what they have to gain by that

Didn't the Pres say everyone is tradeable? or just more kochy type blathereing?

Have a different opinion on what went down now. I believe Dylan and co approached Bombers previously as preference due to likelihood/age profile of premiership though essendone would rather have waited until next year when a FA and focus on a much cheaper Martin this year so he was happy enough to go to the Hawks. Word gets out that Essendon are getting roadblocked by the Suns on Martin so Shiel & co have gone back to ask the question before agreeing to terms with us and they have come to the party. We got played by the Bombers , Connors and Shiel. Oh well doesn’t happen too often to us Hawks.

If Shiel wanted Hawthorn he would have said I only want Hawthorn, that would have reduced GWS power at the trade table and we'd have got him as they needed to trade him as much as he wanted to head back to Melbourne. Instead it seemed Shiel wasn't to fussed what club he went to which gave GWS all the power abd turned it into a bidding war.

He did say that.

He's playing his part in what the coaches are trying to do with the playing group, changing the culture or even individual player's mindsets from a sense of entitlement "I deserve to he here" (faster track to complacency, pride, fall) to a sense of "I am lucky to be here, I'm going to give it my all"

All smart coaches would be trying to instill this, but you get the sense that PAFC have gone extra hard at it and used the off season to do so

I know you do the negative thing and that's cool, but I think you've got this one wrong.

Did anyone from Hawthorn ever actually say that we were after Shiel this past month?? I mean from the club directly.

Because I don't remember it. It seems like a few convinced themselves that he was a monty and have worked themselves into a tizz about missing out on something that might of never been in play...

Im chuffed we keep it close with no leaks, what does that gain?

Have we just agreed on the same thing that I am happy we keep things quiet and don’t say a thing and we should be applauded for this?

meh, I'm not that fussed about Shiel. I said all along he didn't deserve the hype and was being drastically over valued both in terms of trade and salary.

I'm extremely keen on Wingard though but I just don't see how we get a deal done without giving up some real quality in return.

As mother said ... “ if you haven’t got anything nice to say ......”
out of interest for those potting those who share info ( ITK) do we just stop ? Cos for what it’s worth and I don’t give a **** what you think , the club was sure we had him as late as mid day yesterday . Something has taken the club by surprise .....100%
So do we just not share ...cos I for one are sick of the whinging campaigners in here .

I’ll take whatever you have to offer mate!
Anyone complaining are being a little precious.
The world hasn’t ended.
There is always another target.
I’m into premierships & not winning the trade week.
Shiel might have helped in this area but so can the Chad!

Yep......#wingardisthetarget

Sorry. I had to squeeze that in

Can anyone on here confirm that we apparently pulled out of dealings on Saturday / Sunday?

A few in here have said it already but I think everyone just needs to chill the FO. Yeah we missed out on a target but much to the credit of the HFC it has all played out behind closed doors with no leaks whatsoever. It's time to dust ourselves off and get back in there and get the next target and who knows this could be one of those sliding doors moments where it works out to our advantage.

Looking back on the season gone by it's clear that we need some to kick goals just as much as we need more midfield class so maybe its time to fire up the mutha****in DeLorean and go and get the Chad for next season! #idonthaveanissuewithlongsleeves
