Why did 2 surgeons say he didn't need surgery and now the season is over he does?

He's 23 either you need surgery for your injury or you don't.
Because they were (i assume) hopeful he could play in finals 2024, injuries can progress differently in any case. Maybe it didn't progress as expected. People second guessing club decisions need to calm down.

No consequences regime for Jacob Hopper's dog act.
That sounds about right for this cerebrally impoverished AFL

Who else apart from Lewis won't be available for pre season training in 2025?

I know Blanks had issues with infections which has slowed him down but I'd think he should be ready by next January?

Also Butler had a very break so he might still be a little way off?

This video gives you an idea of what Day will be getting done. Apparently his injury makes up only 3% of shoulder injuries which usually occur in car crashes. Or being hit by a Newc!

Thanks for posting. I watched Hellraiser for the first time last night, that made a good sequel.
Its a rare injury, as it said 3% of chest injuries and it's even rarer that it has remained unstable & requires repair. Note the very small numbers of patients in the trials quoted, only 8 & 11.

Great to see it was succesful. What's the long term prognosis given how rare the injury is?
There is no long term prognosis, he’ll be back for a full preseason.

"Day's injury was even more complicated than surgeons realised before they operated, and further injury could have had potentially serious health implications."

I think if we'd beaten Port, and almost certainly if we'd then beaten Sydney, that Day would've come back to play this year. Could have been an absolute disaster based on that assessment.

As an eternal optimist, I can usually find a silver lining in almost any adverse circumstance. This certainly appears to be one - tinged with a healthy hue of gold - in the aftermath of our Port loss.

Any other surgeries/rehabs, apart from Day and Sic, scheduled for the off-season?

If you scroll up above to my post #410 the video shows you what he was dealing with. I read an in depth report on SC joint injuries and it would've been madness to have him play without having the surgery and rehabilitation period. If he was to be hit in the same spot it wouldn't have ended well for him.
