Toast How can this Hawthorn side be stopped?

The reason guys like Moore and Watson get the free kicks is because they get to the ball first so many times it's inevitable. Watch it closely, they go harder and lower than their opponents regularly. There is no rule that says if you pick the ball up low that you have to stand up straight away.

Nobody was whingeing about Moore 2 years ago.

Every team has multiple players who stay low and try and win a high one, they all practice it all the time. Like it or not, It's a part of today's game

Guys like Motlop don't get them because they never win the hard ball.

We are taking it one week at a time. It’s a long season. So not kidding anyone here by drinking our own bathwater.
Speak for yourself.

I snuck into Waverley and drained the ice bath a fortnight ago. I filled up one of those office water cooler jobs and neck a glass of it every morning with my toast.

like they hung and quartered Andrew McGrath in round 1 for almost identical 'rushed/non rushed' behinds?

Hung drawn and quartered?! Bit dramatic. When did hawks fans do this? The bleating came from the other side.

I think most hawks fans knew we got a bit lucky and have stayed pretty quiet about it.

It's everyone else who decided to use 1 decision in the 3rd quarter as some sort of excuse.

Ironically the teams in 2nd (Brisbane) 3rd (Sydney) and 4th (Collingwood) have only played three games,

Carlton have played same amount of games and are a whopping 29 frees behind Hawks

Carlton are shit. Bottom teams who barely touch the ball tend to not get as many frees as top teams who have it all the time.

Carlton also stop playing at half time so maybe compare free kicks at that point. We had 2 frees against GWS in the 1st quarter when we barely touched the ball - as an example.

I missed the hung drawn and quartered carry on but I did see some Hawks fans pouring vats of boiling oil at times

Carlton have played a game less. Only Hawthorn have played 4 games

Are Hawks supporters going to defend Amon and Massimo like they hung and quartered Andrew McGrath in round 1 for almost identical 'rushed/non rushed' behinds?

Already 13 free kicks ahead of it's nearest rival, #freekickhawthorn is coming back folks

(edit. They are playing very good football and im buying stock in what they stand for. merely pointing out some discerning and questionable calls going in favour of said football club)
How dare you even mention that little sideways running crab of a wasted Pick 1 in the same sentence as Amon and Mass.

Cant defend the Amon one

Massimo one was technically correct.

free kick against is a free kick against, consistency os all any supporter asks for from the officials in any sport
You want consistent results for different things.

Hawthorn have been winning but never by huge margins so they are not unbeatable.
Winning in different ways with players missing is a bonus at this time of the year.

It is very strange by Hawthorn this season to be honest.

Yes they are winning, but it seems to be a distinctly different way each week. And there seems to be a new set of players show up each week.

And the Hawks are winning by less but seem to be in much more control.

It is round 4. Time will tell

The thing is i think in just about all those games after a certain point second half or last qtr we looked in control of the game. We don't need to be playing out of our skins its a long season

My impression is of a well drilled side with the focus on accuracy and efficiency, so yeah, the reverse of Carlton.

A lot of workmen, but that sounds weird considering the kicking skills shown.

Teams that rely on accurate kicking can be undone by pressure as Lethal observed of the Swans back when he won the threepeat.

Richmond famously undid Clarkos threepeaters with rushed scrubby footy. Mitchell's version might have a similar vulnerability? Not when we play our Richmond lite style vs them sadly.

The knock has been not enough class but they've addressed that (Ginnivan and Dear and a few other young ones, as well as Gunston, hasn't panned out but the idea was sound).

An honest lump like Chol can go a long way with a good coach, and he seems smart and hard working enough to make something more of himself.

Seems like they have a plan, wore the pain, and have built something. With Pies and Cats ageing, and problems at Melbourne and a lesser extent Footscray, Hawthorn could be the Vic side in the top 4. Quite something to aim for.
