I didn't, was one of my favourite characters and now I'm gonna be made to hate him for at least another episode.

You're right. I would've preferred to see him teaming up and working with Marshall...then they can go out for brunch again!

I'm glad Marshall has a non-parenting related storyline now though.

wasnt good wasnt bad. Just ehh.

I think the Barney free agent thing wouldve been so much funnier had we not know he was going to hook up with Robin.
Would have been funnier about 2 years ago when the LeBron James FA actually happened

At least Marshall wasn't being "an inner woman goddess" (WTF was with that episode) and there wasn't any Lily "son of a bitch" shit - and they did develop Barney/Robin's relationship by getting Robin to realise she liked Barney, and not just the other way around. Not classic HIMYM but not absolutely terrible (wasn't really funny, but it wasn't an annoying episode).

Just thinking, it's probably being done over and over, but could Ted be talking to Barney's kids? And so Aunt Robin was married to Ted....
Few things making me think this:
-Robin and Ted's prolonged eye contact while Ted is in his wedding, indicating they still have feelings for each other
-Ted referring to Barney's wedding day as it going horribly wrong/worst wedding ever (can't remember exact phrase). We know Barney/Robin will get married, but maybe Ted/Robin hooked up or something
-Ted wants his kids named Luke and Leia - don't think the kids Bob Segat talks to have ever been named?
-And don't think the kids call Bob "Dad" - so maybe they aren't the kids

Would be horrible, as seasons 7/8 would be useless (concentrating on Ted and Barney being in other relationships) but could be possible.

Doesn't future Ted refer to him as the kids " uncle " Barney ??

There's always an obvious clue that I miss. This makes me happy because I would hate for it to end that way.

Also the show is called 'How I Met YOUR Mother' not 'Barney Is Your Dad But Here's A Long Story About How I Ended Up With Aunt Robin'

The title How I Met Your Mother would still fit in with my prementioned storyline...

I actually thought this was the best episode of the season so far.

I'd give it a 6.5/10

Agreed. Best ep yet.. maybe the previous episodes have lowered my expectations so low that I had no expectations for this one and found there was a few genuine LOL moments. Had some story progression, left us hanging for the next ep and who doesnt love a Robin Sparkles appearance? :D

Robin can't have kids and said she'll never want them.

I really disliked it. A lot. The show has really tipped the balance from 'zany' to 'moronic' recently. It used to be that the stuff the characters did, whilst not really believable, at least had a tinge of realism to them. The Naked Man, for example. Of course no guy would actually nude up in the house of a first date - but it's just a little bit logical and plausible that someone like Barney might try it. The show used to do really well at walking that tightrope of writing stories that were enough like real life to be relatable, except much more interesting.

The whole court case storyline was just a parody. There was nothing remotely believable or relatable about how that went down - the jury full of horny women, the camp judge, Brad's video, whatever. It was boring because it didn't strike a chord.

I dunno. It feels symptomatic of the whole show for the last few seasons.

I still got a laugh out of Brad's video but I agree, the episode was very unrealistic and hard to believe; but I get that vibe from most of the characters now who are just playing caricatures of themselves. I enjoyed the episode but hated the "who's the biggest badass?" storyline. Seriously though, PLS HURRY UP WITH THE MOTHER!!!!!!!!

Also I'm glad Robin is looking pretty again. She went through a really rough patch last season...

Show gets away with it for me with the whole 'Ted is an unreliable narrator'. He's telling the story 20 years later. Things change, are exagerrated or forgotten.

Sure. But the point is, you look at the best storylines on the show and you can relate to them. e.g.

Pineapple Incident - guy wakes up not remembering the night before and has to piece it together with his friends
Taste of Liberty - guy and mate go on a spur of the moment trip, wind up with a great story
Purple Giraffe - guy throws repeated parties to contrive hooking up with a girl
Slap Bet - two guys have a bet with high stakes about some disputed aspect of a friend's past
Best Burger in NY - guy searches for an awesome place he found once and then couldn't find again

Okay, maybe some of those stories had aspects that were ridiculous and played for comic effect, but the underlying concept was relatable. Even if it hasn't happened to you, you can plausibly imagine that sort of epic story happening in real life (just in a less epic, more realistic way).

Then you look at the main plots from some of this season's episodes:

- Guy tries to convince girlfriend to write a breakup note to her ex fiance whose wedding she ran out on, except with the twist that he ran out on it too
- Guy gets into a crazy prenup war with his fiancee
- Couple run pseudo-gameshow to determine which friends should be godparents
- Guy tries to win court case but gets beaten by a lawyer who pulls crazy tactics to seduce jury full of horny women

Who can relate to any of that?
