He can begin the process certainly, but on your timeframe some of the deadwood will still be there and be amongst the senior players, and then Melbourne are back to hoping the next coach can continue the process. Based on their past record chances are slim.

I couldn't give a flying **** about finals. Yes, they're a stepping stone to what we all want, but in themselves they don't mean Jack Schidt if you're just making up the numbers. A flag is all that matters.

So as for the question about playing finals ? I couldn't give a rat's toss bag. But I can tell you this, no club in the competition is more than 7 years from a flag IF they make great decisions and they have some luck along the way.

Depends how they draft and develop between now and lets say 2017. I see 2018 as the finals year, pushing a flag 2019-20.

Interesting Question.

Swans were mediocre from 1992-1994, Recruited well and got 8 wins in 1995 and made finals in 1996.

Port were miserable in 2011 and 2012 then made finals in 2013.

Melbourne are different, They actually have some good kids that are not only coming through but look like they will spend their whole career in Melbourne and become good servants. I actually thought they were going to beat the lions. Only one win I can see them get is GWS.

If they keep Frawley, they will be better, Lose Frawley and they might go back 2 years.

Heres what I think Melbourne will do...

2014: Stay on 4 wins or get one more.

2015: 6-7 wins

2016: 9-10 wins with some solid KKPs and a good midfield.

2017: 12-13 wins, narrowly miss finals on %

2018: Finals.

Thanks lol. Na on a serious note Melb showed how to do a good rebuild but Roos was critical in this process too can’t be underestimated how important he was in setting it up. Things generally are never quite as bad as they look for clubs
