From here, the theory for Kappa, doesn't sound like they really know yet how it got out, seems to have taken a while to infect someone else if he got released on the 23rd.

The returned traveller tested positive to the virus the same day he arrived in Melbourne and was transferred from the Novotel Ibis quarantine hotel to the Holiday Inn health hotel on May 14 before being released from quarantine on May 23.

Investigations have so far revealed there were 24 people on the same plane as the case, with all crew and passengers testing negative.

Of the 268 staff who worked at the Ibis hotel on May 8 an 9 and the 360 staff at the health hotel, there were no positive tests identified. All 12 residents housed in the same Novotel Ibis have tested negative.

Deputy chief health officer Allen Cheng said this suggests there has been transmission either directly from person-to-person or indirectly via unidentified cases to the family and the community.

“The investigation is continuing but there is four main theories and some of them are more or less likely. The first possibly is that the case transmitted to or was infected by someone — another passenger on the plane — and that person has gone on to infect someone in the community,” Professor Cheng said.

“The second possibility is that the case transmitted after he left hotel quarantine. The third is that the case transmitted to a staff member somewhere along their journey from the airport to transport to the first hotel to transport to the second hotel and then out to the community, and then the fourth possibility is that the case transmitted to a hotel resident who has then transmitted to the community after their quarantine stay.”

My gut is there has been a false negative. It's rare, but it happens

So today we have a punter who is a close contact of an infected person and supposed to be isolating, front up at a vaccination clinic (at which point they were told to go straight back home), making that an exposure site, and have today tested positive.

Have we reached peak idiocy yet?

My anger really arises from the takeover and gentrification of the working class political machinery and its application now for a generation of imposters, who don't give a flying fu** about actual workers.

If you give me a gun with one bullet and tell me I can either shoot an enemy or a traitor in the head, then the traitor will get it every time.

Your analogy would be right if the ALP were being traitors and behaving just like the LNP.

But it's still better for working-class people to vote ALP than LNP.

They're not traitorous to the working class, just a little obsessed with their own position over that of those they purport to represent which is what comes from having a political class.

Term limits would be the best solution IMO.

O'Brien was a lawyer for about 3 years before jumping on the LNP/Govt teat in 2001, about two years after Andrews got on the ALP teat. Both sides are about the same.

FFS, people in this city are seriously beginning to piss me off

No, this is a shoehorning exercise designed to satisfy your own peace of mind.

It's either ignorance or denialism.

But it's still better for working-class people to vote ALP than LNP.

The quickest way for the working class to find representation is to jolt the parasites out of their party.

Well that ****er should be fined 10k, if we are going to keep going with the softly, softly approach with these assholes we will get nowhere. Time to make these campaigners shit scared to leave their house.

These people are as dumb as posts. They're complete morons. It would do no good as a deterrent because this complete buffoon probably thought they were doing the right thing.

There's really no cure for idiocy. Which is why the Populist every-person-for-themselves policy in many other nations was such a disaster.

We're constantly surrounded by the stupidest of people.

Not sure whether to laugh or be annoyed that a guy who would have been told to isolate for 14 days shows up to get vaccinated during his isolation period.

A well-meaning idiot?
Correction on this. Weimar claimed this plonker actually visited the vaccination centre (South Wharf one) after they'd received their positive result, if news.com is to be believed.

If that's true, what a genuine ****head.

Reckon it was done on purpose? An antivaxxer? Or just plain dumb?

I think he genuinely wanted to get vaccinated. There's no suggestion he was trying to cause trouble down there.

Just a first-rate moron, I suspect.

I keep reading about the "circumstances surrounding Daniel Andrews' injury", and that the Fox family are suing some rag over reporting rumours, but I can't find any description of the rumours. Can anyone point me toward a post or article which explains what Andrews was supposedly doing to cause the injury?

Libs scrapping the absolute low of the barrel. Even the rust on the bottom.
Since when do people, of any work place, has to release their personal medical history. What time he went to hospital? Wtf is this.
Speaks volunes of the character and humility of Liberals in this country. Aided by ScoMo and his ‘Christian’ Pentecostal beliefs. Conspiracy theorists. Why no conspiracy in Liberals’ ineptitude to fund a hospital/base for returning travellers

After the hotel quarantine 'I don't remember' bullshit nobody will trust the campaigner again.. Andrews opens his mouth, it's bullshit unless proven otherwise.

An article? No, nobody would print the rumours.

But the LNP have found enough merit in stuff that nobody would print to "request" an answer to a bunch of stupid questions.

This says nothing about Andrews or the ALP and everything you need to know about how stupid the LNP is. Their moronic leader is giving oxygen to basically any old made up moronic rumour on the internet (there are hundreds but none of them have any real traction).

Stupid is in the LNP from the roots to the top.

are you saying the ambo's are lying?

Depends on point in time, started out he was pissed and fell over, then it was he was pissed and fell over at Linsay Fox's place, eventually it got to touched up Fox's granddaugher and got beating up for it. There may have been more iterations of the purple monkey diswasher Qanon derpery, but those are the ones I saw going around.

There were bikies, there were security guards, jilted lovers, gangsters.

Basically make up any rumour based on nothing and you've got basically the whole story.

I wonder if this is how the Bible started?

Talking to someone who knows someone in Vic parliament. Dan has 5 cracked ribs and several cracked vertebrae and is up to walking/standing for an hour a day. That's some tumble.
This is hardly The Staircase, people suffer horrendous injuries falling down stairs all the time.

In fact in my teenage years, some of my classmates witnessed a middle aged gentleman fall over on flat pavement and hit his head. The fall killed him.
