Fair call, I just think the lack of outside run hurt us this year. If we could swing a Gaff into the equation then I may feel more comfortable.
I'm not sold on Gaff. Want us to keep Hartung and get Omeara in the team and use Morrison and Hartung as our wingers or one of Lovell or JOR. Think we have to give games to these guys.

I really don't give a toss what others teams do.

I'm only concerned about what the hawks do.
This draft is said to be a weak one.
So having no 1st rounder is not really a big deal as those ones can fail too.

As stated previously the guys I'd like as ins to the hawks:
Rockliff, M Kennedy, Balic

There does not appear anyone outside of those that appeal.

The biggest improver I found this year to be Blake Hardwick, I though when drafted he was like a
mini Dunstall - drafted as a forward but did really well in the backline; a pleasant surprise.

I have a hunch there are other players hawks may take like a spare ruck but we'll all know in a few weeks.

Not sure why we'd need a spare ruck. We may draft one for the future but we got Ceglar, McEvoy, Pittonet & Vickery + all year we did McEvoy + O'Brien so we didnt even use a 2nd ruck

Maybe just tony olango , with a very late pick .

I think when people judge the strength of the draft, it's usually characterised by it's depth. Perhaps you can argue it's more important to have a 1st round draft pick in a shallow draft rather than, for example, the 2018 draft because the talent is touted to travel further.

Would think that if we get Olango it will be a rookie selection. We have rookie spots available with Surman & Fitzy both retiring and at least one of Cousins/Glass being rookie promoted.
Sounds good , we need to be focusing on midfield depth and outside run

Puopolo & Smith + pick 60 for 2018 1st & Kennedy + pick 69?

Pick 32 & 42 for Pick 23 & 60

on-trade pick 60 to Freo for Balic

Whitecross to Brisbane for Pick 73(if anything)

Out: Poupolo, Smith, Whitecross, Picks 32, 42 & 60
In: Kennedy, Balic, Pick 23, 69 & 73 + 2018 1st

Thoughts people?

My thoughts are we would want to add an elite outside player very quickly.

I'll stir the pot a little. If we need outside run and lose Hartung would we consider Motlop? Cats looked set to tip him out after Cooks comments, with their interest in Stringer and Ablett it almost makes sense.

I'd take him if the payload wasn't too much

If Billy leaves how about Aaron Hall for outside run? Wrong age profile but a real line breaker. Would have at least 3 good seasons left. Pass on Motlop.
With where we are at, we need players who can offer more than 3 years.

Pass on Hall. Don't rate him and no point giving up valuable currency for someone in the wrong age profile anyway.
But I really hope Hartung stays as I think he has talent and has shown improvement imo

I've heard that the reason Stringer is on the way out is because a Garry Lyon/ Bill Brownless scenario.
More so, the story goes that Stringer did the dirty on his missus, then cooked himself and accused his mate(johanisen) of shacking up with her causing a falling out. Realized he'd been frazzled, but damage done.

Dogs want to rid themselves of someone who is not far off being cooked.

Think I read somewhere that Glass and Cousins may be spending another year on the rookie list with the promise of promotion end of 2018.
