Its interesting that both Hawthorn and Richmond are getting smashed by other supporters and the media yet very little mention of the club in common here.
GCS have clearly decided to play hardball yet apparently we are the bad guys.
Really does feel like we should let JOM go to the draft and get him with pick 10, and you let Prestia go to the draft and either use your pick 6 or take a punt and hope you can use your 2nd rounder. If he sets a high price it is entirely possible it goes through.

why would clubs do this?, they have no idea where they will be in the draft order at the end of the year. Nor if a player will have a career threatening injury. You value picks + players based on what they are worth on trade day, pure and simple.
But I agree, the fans will be blamed if Prestia goes the Yarran way.
The only way I understand this is if GCS is suddenly surprisingly generous to us in some other deal later this week.

The deals has been done, it will be announced just before the close of trades, so the RFC can save face,
It's the only deal that isn't getting airtime, we have given 6 otherwise Cochrane would be bleating like he us for O'meara , he has been silent on our trade yet every time he opens his mouth it's about omeara

When talking about JOM this morning he said that they were getting pick 6 today. So I assume the deal had been finalised yesterday.

Well I was super excited when Prestia nominated us. I really like him and in fact I wanted him last year as well. But I'm finding it really bloody hard to get excited about it now. This is a shitful trade. What the hell are we thinking chucking in a future second? 6 for Dion and 24 is more than fair. In fact I want to know what makes us think our second pick next year won't be better than 24? I think it will be to be honest. So it's Prestia for 6 + steak knives provided by us. Surely the club realises this? Like we must know what a shocking trade it is right? I just don't get it.
Anyway. It's done now and we can't do anything except get excited about the player we take at 24. Welcome Dion.

So it's really Prestia (former pick 9) for pick 6
Funny thing is I reckon for Pick 6 and next years 2nd round pick we could have nailed O'Meara

I said yesterday the board met and committed 6 so the deal was done GC are laughing at us
In their desperation to be seen to be doing somthing they mortgaged the future again for a guy who has only been on the park 50 % of the time

May as well close this thread. Comforting thing for me is that based on the history of pick 6 (both last 10 years and further back) and our recent history, we could well have stuffed it up. Let someone else pick them, develop them and we'll keep giving up early picks to get them in later...

So how the hell did Richmond get suns to sign a deal? Good get guys
Much better deal than Collingwood last year - giving up 2 firsts for Treloar. Prestia changes our midfield setup and how oppositions . Not as good as Hawks get of Mitchell. Not as good as most of us hoped - but still - pretty darn great overall.
