if freo win the spoon will they get pick 1 or 2?

It depends.

If one of Melbourne or West Coast win less then 5 games then the picks would go:

Pick 1- Melb/WC
Pick 2- Freo

If they don't then freo would get the first pick.

When Richmond won the Spoon in 2007, Carlton had won less then 5 games 2 years in a row and therefore got the first pick taking Kruezer. Then Richmond picked and took Cotchin with pick 2.

Pick1- Melbourne - Tom Scully
Pick2- Melbourne - Jack Trengove
Pick3- Fremantle - kane lucas/ john butcher
Pick4- Richmond - Koby Stevens/john butcher
Pick5- Nth Melbourne - koby stevens/martin
Pick6- West coast - Anthony Morabito
Pick7- Hawthorn - Gary Rohan
Pick8- Sydney - Mathew Panos
Pick9- Port Adelaide - Luke Tapscott
Pick10- Essendon - Ben Cunnington

(Assuming freo, richmond ect. win more games, and melbourne dont...)

Pick1- Melbourne
Pick2- Melbourne
Pick3- Fremantle
Pick4- Richmond
Pick5- Nth Melbourne
Pick5- West coast
Pick6- Hawthorn
Pick7- Sydney
Pick8- Port Adelaide
Pick9- Essendon
Pick10-Carlton

Who'd go where?

Thoughts?

I like the idea of Sydney getting pick 7 (especially considering the recent history of players who have gone at pick 7).

don't think McNeil is top 10 but i think he will get picked up in the later rounds.

Very smart player that generally uses the ball extremely well. A midfielder that can go forward and kick goals. Have heard rumours that he is on Essendon's radar, might not go that high but certainly if he has a good draft camp he could be a possible bolter.

Does anyone know what pick Ah Chee will go?

Ah Chee is an interesting one. Would be very unlikely to get picked up in the first three rounds, but is a possible draftee nonetheless. Smart player that is hard at it, with a penetrating kick. Doesn't have a massive scope for improvement I feel, but is a solid prospect.

Ok with people saying Trengove could come to Richmond can someone please tell me a bit about this kid.

The ideal midfielder is Trengove. Smart, skilful, can play both inside and out midfielder roles and is an exceptional leader. Not a whole lot of negatives for this kid, isn't super quick but is above average in that deptartment. Is similar to Gibbs in the way he goes about his footy. I like him a heap, probably not considered number 1 material because he isn't Victorian. But if a club in SA was looking at getting the number 1 draft choice, this kid would be the next big thing.

Pick 1 - Melbourne: Tom Scully
Pick 2 - Melbourne: Matthew Panos*
Pick 3 - Fremantle: John Butcher
Pick 4 - Richmond: Jack Trengove
Pick 5 - Kangaroos: Ben Cunnington
Pick 6 - West Coast: Anthony Morabito
Pick 7 - Sydney: Daniel Talia
Pick 8 - Hawthorn: Kane Lucas
Pick 9 - Port Adelaide: Luke Tapscott
Pick 10 - Essendon: Dustin Martin

* I have a gut feeling Panos's stocks will rise considerably come draft day. I think he's the best-performed KP prospect in the draft and Melbourne won't want to use both picks on midfielders.

I think all the other picks are good fits for the respective clubs.

Who are the top KPP in this year's draft? Up here in Sydney i have not heard a word about this year's draft pretty much.

I know Panos and Butcher are the 2 best KPF but who are the leading tall defenders in this coming draft?

wait up what about eagles tanking their way to 2 and 4 ?

We would have to lose every game from here to the end of the year.

With what Freo dished up yesterday it would be impossible to tank against that

Pick1- Melbourne - Tom Scully
Pick2- Melbourne - John Butcher
Pick3- Fremantle - Anthony Morabito
Pick4- Richmond - Jack Trengove
Pick5- Nth Melbourne - Kane Lucas
Pick6- West Coast - Koby Stevens
Pick7- Hawthorn - Allen Christensen
Pick8- Sydney - Matthew Panos
Pick9- Port Adelaide – Jack Fitzpatrick
Pick10- Essendon - Daniel Talia

Pretty sure they get pick 1 if they win the spoon even if Melbourne win less then 5 games i think it would go.

pick 1 - freo
pick 2 - melbourne
pick 3 - melbourne

If Freo finish bottom, and Melbourne win under 5 games, we still get pick 1, as it is a priority pick prior to the first round. The draft, in this case, would be as follows:

Pick 1 - MELB
Pick 2 - FRE
Pick 3 - MELB

And so forth.

Ok with people saying Trengove could come to Richmond can someone please tell me a bit about this kid. Does he have good skills? (something we lack bit time). Is he hard at the ball?. Just after a bit of info.
Thanks in advance :)

He's pretty much our ideal result for the draft - inside and out midfielder/half-forward, not particularly fast but we're already covered for speed, excellent leadership skills.

Dustin Martin?

I really doubt Kane Lucas goes that high - I reckon he'll end up in the 7-10 range.

Pick 1 - Melbourne: Tom Scully
Pick 2 - Melbourne: John Butcher
Pick 3 - Fremantle: Anthony Morabito
Pick 4 - Richmond: Jack Trengove
Pick 5 - Kangaroos: Dustin Martin
Pick 6 - West Coast: Kane Lucas
Pick 7 - Sydney: Matthew Panos
Pick 8 - Hawthorn: Koby Stevens

Pick 10 - Essendon: Daniel Talia

I have a feeling Melbourne will stick to their guns and take Butcher at 2. But there is a strong possibility they might take a different type of mid in Morabito at 2 or even take Trengove if they see he is the next best availability. IMO pick 2 will shape the draft. WA are going to be looking local and I think there are a host of players I haven't listed that could conceivably all be first rounders. If Freo get pick 2 it could throw everything into chaos or it could be a straight swap of the 2 and 3 I listed. And to anyone from interstate, if you don't think Morabito has the potential to play every game next year and become in the elite of the competition, you haven't seen enough. Watched him yesterday at Peel and was brilliant in patches.

As it stands at the moment, (presuming West Coast win another) it'd be:

#1: Melbourne -
#2: Fremantle -
#3: Melbourne -
#4: Richmond -
#5: North Melbourne -
#6: West Coast -
#7: Sydney -
#8: Hawthorn -
#9: Port Adelaide -
#10: Essendon -

Just two more wins for the Dees and they wave goodbye to pick 1. They have 4 winnable games coming up:

Rd17 - Sydney @ Manuka
Rd18 - Richmond @ MCG
Rd19 - North Melbourne @ ES
Rd20 - Fremantle @ MCG

That Round 20 game is going to be very interesting.

Jack Trengrove is a balanced player, who boats amazing endurance and balanced skills. has been completing extra weight and running sessions to allow his form to peak throughout the latter part of this year, including the state champs. pick 1 or 2 would seem possible, and a gentleman too. RIght and left foot kick, strong overhead and is a great leader. Hails from South Australia, from PAC and looks like a promising footballer after debuting in the South Australia's SANFL. discuss?

Will do a more accurate version now with VV's order: (July Edition)

#1: Melbourne - Tom Scully
#2: Fremantle - Anthony Morabito
#3: Melbourne - John Butcher
#4: Richmond - Jack Trengove
#5: North Melbourne - Gary Rohan
#6: West Coast - Kane Lucas
#7: Sydney - Nathan Vardy
#8: Hawthorn - Jesse Crichton
#9: Port Adelaide - Matthew Panos
#10: Essendon - Koby Stevens

Yeah IMO he is the most complete player in this years draft has everything you would want in a footballer. I really hope Freo pick him up in the draft.

That's fantastic :D

Other than that, I think your list is pretty reasonable. The only real question mark surrounds Melbourne, and whether or not they will go with Butcher or another midfielder to complement Scully.

Not any more. Melb may not even get a priority the way they are going.
