Possibly one of the best finals players ever if not the goat in that area, he's not the goat overall but should be easily in this team if you remove Richmond bias, a Brownlow and 3 Norm Smiths in 3 flag years is something no one else has achieved in the game and his 2017 season is right up there with the best ever.

Williams is the most over rated player of all time - yes he played a great 95 GF

I probably watched 35 games of his approx at the SCG - living in Syd - how did he go in 86 and 87 in those big finals when the Swans went out in straight sets both years - didnt get a kick

What about 94 for Carlton in that upset finals loss to Geel at Waverly - Pickering put the absolute cleaners through him - Williams had an appalling record at Waverly because he was as slow as treacle

Kevin Bartlett - Bernie Quinlan - Barry Davis - Nathan Buckley - genuine superstars with pace - they are the length of the Randwick straight better footballers than Greg Williams - and as i said i did watch him live in about 35-40 games live at the SCG - so im qualified to give my opinion

It is an absolute myth that Williams is a great player - i wouldnt have him in the best 100 ever - no way

Perhaps he was nominated for several positions and thus failed to be No 1 in any position.

I put him at HFF for my best ever forwards. There is not a HBF in history who had the height, speed and strength to stop him.

Chris Mew comes closest. Probably with Fletcher. But I dont think you put them on a GOAT team just because of Buddy.

Dusty averages more brownlow votes per game than gaj, and last time I checked it was a home and away award .

Interestingly neither Lockett or Coventry got in the team (1st and 2nd all time goal kickers) and John Coleman did despite playing only 98 games. They must have prioritised goal average over total goals, I’d personally have the former 2 over Coleman. I don’t have Coleman in my team at all.

Also let’s be honest. How crucial was Martin to the tigers winning the GF in 2019? Zero. Going by the NS metric, it means that Martin’s game in 2019 is held in higher regard than say Voss’ game in 2002…That is absolutely ridiculous. It pains me to say but Voss willed his team to victory in a game where the margin was never double digits at any point.
