I was assistant playing coach last year of the team Rhyian represented. Whilst he was at the back end of the 2s selections and I didn't have a heap to do with him the kid was always at the club. He was great to have around and was always supportive of everything the footy club was doing.

I had a chat to Rhyian last night and his enthusiasm for footy is 2nd to none, I am 110% the boys at the footy club will embrace his ' coming out' and love the bloke more for his honesty. Good on him.

I have much hope that this generation are far more accepting of "different".

We as a society still have a problem. I know that I do and I'm trying to rectify it - due to my environment growing up I use particular language that can be taken the wrong way. My parents' generation do - argued about marriage equality with my father where he disagrees because 'kids need a mum and a dad'.

And yet people whine about minority agendas.

When my friend who is turning 21 and has a wonderful boyfriend can marry him just like how I can marry my girlfriend then we can stop.

When a call about a player being gay can engender the same response as a player being black, then we can stop.

When we are all treated the same - regardless of skin color, regardless of whether we like the penis, the vagina or whatever in between - then we can stop.

Just because a teammate is gay, doesn't mean they are going to hit on me, but perhaps I'm in the minority, having grown up with my older brother who is gay (he came out when I was a baby, in a time where homosexuality was still a bit of a taboo subject)

In fact, there is a. Bonus of having a gay team mate, he's the ultimate wingman!

Its been practiced for hundreds of thousands of years.
Its only illegal on religious/moral grounds...certainly nothing inherently bad about it or regressive for the human race. In many ways people could argue its actually good for the human race and perfectly natural.
How about we start fighting for their rights and give them some air time too.
They havent even been told its legal yet...let alone socially acceptable. They hang in the dark corner and cant come out of the closet for fear of prosecution.

We dont even have legal euthanasia...and you cant even jump off a bridge without being a criminal.

You have to laugh when some men carry on about feeling insecure if there was a gay man in the locker room! Most of those guys have trouble picking up women, let alone having to worry about a man hitting on them!

A mate of mine who I went through high school with and played footy with came out about being gay, he asked me if I cared or thought any different of him... my response was - "I couldnt care less, just as long as you dont try to **** me", to which he responded after looking me up and down with a puzzled expression on his face - "as if I would want to **** you!!" LOL!!!

We are still good mates as we have always been and I never had any issue showering and getting changed around him after footy!


I simply dont understand Homophobic and Racist members of our society - the hatred towards people that are often completely unknown to themselves just blows my mind!!

I only hope that a homophobic **** has a child who turns out to be gay in the future - surely this would be the ideal "punishment" for them!!!
