A guy I know who works for a Vic club was telling me this week they're hearing crowds will be banned as early as R2.

Why the wait, the virus is not going to have a break come round one then re emerge round 2
The time to act is now, not wait to see how it will turn out.

Might still happen from R1. AFL are probably just trying to delay the decision as long as possible.

There’s a thread on the main board. I got my first infraction on it 😂

A lot of people not taking COVID-19 seriously at all. The government should be shutting the borders and quarantining everyone now while there’s a chance of containing it.

Personally, Footy is the least of my concerns. I have a pregnant wife with high blood pressure, ageing parents and a very vulnerable 90 year old Nana. Plus I’m an account manager for a very large company and meet with over 50 people per week on their sites. At this stage the message has been business as usual.

In regards to footy, I predict a player will test positive within 7-14 days and the season will be postponed. It’s inevitable to happen at some point.

The Vic Government's Cheif Medical Officer banned crowds at the F1 GP today.

There's zero chance they'll allow 90 thousand plus at the MCG next week.

If the season does go ahead with no crowds this could be the fairest season of umpiring in history.

Or alternatively we'll be able to see which umpires are genuinely biased for or against certain teams.

Should be super interesting to see if Fisher butchers us every game this year or if suddenly he is neutral again.

Give me Razor Ray any day - the best in the business because his only bias is to his own importance.

I'm not expecting any compensation nor do I want any
The way I see it, If everybody wants their money back the club would struggle to stay afloat
None of us want that

we are paying for entertainment if they are not going to provide the entertainment we are within our rights to get the money back.

We're not here to pay the club for doing nothing.

Crazy times around the world

I’m currently in Costa Rica on holiday, about to fly to Dallas for a few days before flying home.

So far, and touch wood, virus free (Costa Rica has had a very low exposure rate to date)

Looking to change flights home a few days early but it’s a 3 hour wait to get through to qantas fools.

If we can’t change the flights - it’ll be interesting to see what the world looks like next Friday when we eventually arrive home - fully expecting either the government or my employer to be quarantined regardless if I’m showing signs of the virus.

Was hoping to get back the Friday in time for season kick off but who knows if that’ll even happen!

The President of the Freo Harbourmasters has already tested positive, and the Treasurer is being tested. Who know who they have interacted with in the club recently.
I'm guessing he would have been at the breakfast launch yesterday?

To my surprise, lots of players still making first move to shake hands.

I reckon Joel Hamling has been isolated based on his no show at the breakfast too.

From what I was told, the President knew before the breakfast and did not attend. Not sure about the Treasurer though.

Best case scenario unfortunately is that we play as many games in front of no crowds for as long as possible then, when a player/staffer inevitably is diagnosed with it, shut the whole thing down for a month, get the all clear and go again

That's not how stuff works.

Large crowds will only become a thing again once herd immunity is established.

Fair enough each to their own, everybody does what they think is the right thing to do or whatever they can afford
we all have to take a hit in some way
Life has taught me that to give is more rewarding than to receive though
