How didn’t it adhere to the rules? If that was the closest ball in the case to the one they replaced, that’s the ball they use. Take off the tinfoil: you sound like a f**ken Englishman.
Ha ha yeah maybe I do. I doubt it was the least new in the box though. They just happened to then run through the Aussies with this shiner ball. Not a good look.

I agree with KP and a number of English pundits on this one. Its not a like-for-like replacement and not really in the spirit of cricket by the Indians.

England have a right to be spewing about that. The only way this is like for like is because one cricketer was replaced by another. A specialist batsman being replaced by a bowler isn't like for like.

It's bullshit.

The logical next step now is the rule needs to change so that each player in the XI has a nominated sub (one sub can cover many in the XI) at the start of the game that gets referee signoff.

Then you can't factor in the state of the game to make tactical choices.

In reality, the subs should be:

1 batter.
1 keeper
1 seamer
1 spinner

All rounder is tricky. You could nominate another all rounder or you could go with bat/bowl. Depending on when injury occurs this decision could become quite lucky/unlucky.

With bowlers you could argue left/right/finger/wrist but that would be overdoing it.

Shivam Dube playing this match despite the 'concussion' in the previous match.

Buttler made reference to four impact subs in the toss interview, which was a clear shot at the concussion sub decision.
Maybe he should concentrate on addressing the problems with his side rather than making jokes. His side has been smashed this series.
