I often wonder which game would be considered the best game of the year, by a given player.

I must admit, I haven't watched much football this year, but I'd have put Swan's performance today at no. 1.

Some others I thought were great were

Ablett vs Essendon - round 3
Ablett vs Adelaide - round 1
Fyfe vs Geelong - round 1
Harvey vs Geelong - round 3

Anyone have any others to nominate?

stanton last week

swan today

Scott Selwood 34 possessions (14 contested, 85% DE), 3 goals, 7 clearances, 5 I50, 4 tackles

Matt Priddis 33 possessions (23 contested), 17 clearances

Scott Thompson 39 possessions

Luke Shuey 25 possessions, 5 goals

Brent Stanton 36 possessions (83% DE), 17 marks, 1 goal, 5 I50, 4 tackles

Ablett vs Essendon the best one ive seen this year.
I would probably put Swan second he played ridiculously well today

Stanton last week.

Today on the big stage, Swanny was immense.

42 possessions, 13 clearances, 6 marks, 3 goals.

Was in everything.

Performances against Gold Coast and GWS don't count, so you can take out a number of those earlier nominations.

Swan for mine - he was a genuine match winner. Without his performance the Pies most likely would have lost and he stood up on a number of occasions when it most mattered.

Ablett vs. Essendon, round 3

Swan vs. Essendon, round 5

Stanton vs. Carlton, round 4

Murphy vs. Collingwood, round 3

Kennedy vs. Fremantle, round 2.

Not sure what the exact stats were but Bartel was fairly epic against the Hawks a couple weeks back. But agree that at the moment it's between Swan's game today and Ablett's against the Bombers. Then Stanton and Shuey.

Shuey was pretty good but games against GWS/GC won by a squillion shouldn't really count.

In terms of influence on the result Swan vs Bombers is probably #1 at this point in time for mine.

The occasion, the pressure, the fact it was a wet, hard, 1 point game...... Swan's game pretty much the best so far.

In fact considering he just reminded people what he can do, and his enormous last 3-5 years, I'm amazed how quick people jump off this guy...

Up there with Ablett for me.

No he's not. Swan was allowed to run free yesterday without an opponent while Ablett performs at that level nearly every week with a heavy tag, just look at his game against Essendon with Hocking hanging off him.

Swan is never ALLOWED to run free, none can go with him all day.

However, Abblett has the edge in class.
