The resident risk assessor is going to earn his/her keep with Libba and Macrae in the closing stages of our injurus annus horribilus. Don't f*** it up, 2017 and a full deck is just round the corner.

Worth considering perhaps our best (core) 22 players and how many have missed significant chunks through injury or suspension (and who are out now).

IMO our Top 22 (not necessarily in order):

Games missed in brackets. Bolded players doubtful or not playing this weekend.

Bont (0)
Jake (1)
Wood (5)
JJ (9)
Murph (15)
Dahl (5)
Libba (1.5)
Boyd (M) (2)
Hunter (0)
Macrae (0)
Crameri (18)
Morris (1)
Suckling (5)
Wallis (1)
Rough (0)
Daniel (2)
Picken (0)
Smith (13)
Biggs (0)
Adams (7)
Koby (7)
Tory (4)

9/22 could be out this week ...

Note: Toyd will be T22 if he plays like Fri PM for the rest of the year!

Roughy's been a warrior this season. He's not the most muscular ruck & he's been crashed and bashed every week. He's played injured & fronted up. Good on him. Gary Ablett should get his phone number and have a chat about the best way to imbibe concrete for the purpose of increasing one's intestinal fortitude.

That's how I read it too
  1. or for Libba
What happens after surgery?
After surgery, you will be immobilized in a splint for the first 10 to14 days. You will typically be kept non-weightbearing on the side of your surgery for six to eight weeks. You will then be allowed to advance your weightbearing in a cast or boot. Swelling persists for many months after this surgery. Stiffness can be problem and physical therapy is often necessary.

This would be stretched for a professional athlete though I think - footballers often will play not 100%, so an injury which would keep a park footballer out would be handled with a bunch of painkillers in the AFL. So thinking extremely optimistically, Libba might be out of the moon boot in 5 weeks and back out on the park for week 1 of finals.

What a nightmare tease of a season. Every time we look to challenge at the very top end - it goes pair shaped.

Half way through the second quarter last week I started to believe again - danger and selwood under control. Liberatore tearing it up - and then boom!

It's such an open season that whoever gets it right with player availability is most likely to win this flag. I wish I had a cat to kick.

We need liberatore maccrae back playing in round 23 to be sure they are ready for finals. We need Adams McLean Williams and Boyd fit too.

Most importantly we need no more fricken injuries.

Libby won't be returning.

Marc Murphy is going to miss over ten weeks with the exact same injury. I can't see how Libba gets back in 6.

One might be playing finals and the other definitely isnt.

Not saying I think he can be back but ladder position definitely has an influence on injury recovery times.
