Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

STAR Geelong midfielder Jimmy Bartel will be sidelined for two weeks after having his tonsils out on Tuesday.

Bartel has been struggling with tonsillitis during much of the pre-season, although he was an impressive performer in the Cats' victories over North Melbourne and the Bulldogs in round one of the NAB Cup.

Good pick up

But its Jimmy it means nothing. This guy will play with one arm and leg and still score 100s. 2 weeks off is nothing especially considering he has done about 10 preseasons now.

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

the extra forward reserve is already paying off :D

just have to decide between callinan or smith:confused:

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

The 2 weeks off for Jimmy could do a whole lot of good as well. head the tonsilitis hasnt done anything to his pre-season so after a good game on the weekend, 2 weeks off just before the start of the season could be a blessing in disguise. You'd think he'd still be able to swim/ride to keep his fitness levels up

It might be down in the waters of Corio Bay... to gargle on the salt water.

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

God I hope Chapman gets over this "Calf strain" we all know what his history with injuries is like!

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

That article would have me more worried about Chappy than Bartel.

I could do without Chappy in the starting team and using the 70K-100K elsewhere. You just know if you don't pick him and many others have him, he'll stay fit and burn you with regular 130s.

Tried saving $$ without Chappy in 2010, it was a long year.

Knights disappointing.

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

Unless Knights pulls out some ripper scores that you'd expect from the likes of Swan and co he wont be in my team. Looking very injury prone

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

Knights i swear has had 4 soft tissue injuries already and hes not even going 100% in games yet.

Will hurt my structure big time, what will people do to him? id probably downgrade him to a rookie and upgrade from 1 premium ruck to 2??

Chappy shouldnt be a major concern. keep watch though.

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

Ive replaced him with a rookie and introduced Sandilands into my team. Had high hopes for Knights too, a top 5/6 player at the crows without injury

I agree ill probably be doing a similar thing to you, Knights has just had to many injuries to concern about this season for a player who may never become a keeper.

The highest he has ever avg is 87 and i want my 6th forward avg 85+ come towards the end of season. So he just sits above that. Having said this if named for round 1 would be an extremely hard player to leave out.

Leaving him out for a rookie makes my structure perfect.

I've replaced him with tippett. In games the crows won last year he averaged 79 and im tipping the crows to be big improvers this year.

The crows have some good youngsters sure, but you cant expect them to be consistantly performing well next year, like melbourne.

Remember the crows lost Mcleod, Burton, Goodwin, Bock, Edwards (you cant replace that overnight). Thats a big hole to fill and with Vince and Knights still very injury prone coming into the season they wont make big indents into the 8. I see them just outside the top 8. 10th-11th.

That is actually why the Crows will improve this year, they have removed the deadwood.

With the exception of Goodwin the others were no real loss, Bock had a very ordinary year last year. Mcleod, Burton and Edwards were past it.

What ever helps you sleep:thumbsu::eek:

Re: Injuries and Suspensions - 2011

What do you want to wager?

I bet the Crows finish better than they did last year. It won't be hard, now they have let the deadwood float away.

I see them just outside the top 8. 10th-11th.

My thoughts, you mustnt have read my post, i said they will stagnate, at best IMO. The only reason they will do better is if T.Walker has a J.Riewoldt 2010 year.
