"Hurn is already one of the most decorated players in Eagles’ history, having captained the club to the 2018 premiership as well as baking a two-time All-Australian and a three-time Glendinning-Allan medallist."

No wonder Gov loves Bung

Not even sure where to begin with this one:

Jeremy McGovern (West Coast)

Rookie Pick 44, 2010 Draft

The West Coast key defender didn't come into the club with high hopes of playing senior football.

McGovern struggled to find his spot in the senior side and was forced to wait until round six in 2014 to debut.

In 2015, coach John Worsfold unlocked oppositions' worst fears as the tall Eagle dominated the backline, making the All-Australian squad.

The next four years, McGovern continued his stellar form, earning four AA jackets.

He also held aloft the premiership cup in 2018 and will be forever remembered as the man who helped set up Dom Sheed's clutch match-winning goal with in the Grand Final.

McGovern is forging a Matthew Boyd-esque career and giving all rookie selections hope in their endeavours.

I reckon they'll schedule the showdown for that SA weekend.

I hope they schedule us to play at Norwood or somewhere

Gil already said today that the showdown wouldn’t be part of money round

ok yeah then we'll probably play Port or Crows then. Making the whole experience a normal Adelaide trip for us

So in the wash up port and crows pick up an extra home game. 14 teams play at a neutral venue and 2 teams have an extra away game. A fair and equitable competition would have the 2 previous grand finalists cop the extra away game but that’s now how the afl operate so who knows

They really could have just fit this in the regular 22 fixtures with the two SA teams using a home game and 7 Vic teams losing a home game. Would have had minimal impact to them considering some sell games and they can share the gate on their wankfest blockbusters
This is What I thought too.

Typical AFL making everything 50 times harder than needed

The big Melbourne clubs would probably have cried poor due to lost revenue. I guess the AFL could have just paid them for it though.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Another couple of years they'll find some fabulous reason for another round ... etc

Paul Fitzpatrick was on the Mark Duffield SEN show this morning.

In response to a question from a listener (might have been me) on whether Simpson was contracted to 2024 or 2025 it was unequivocally answered as 2025

Lol - Paul must have been corrected after he got it wrong in the press.

Good thing that listener asked that question because there wasn’t a lot of other juicy info coming out of that session.

The club’s in great shape, people have forgotten about how bad we had it in 2022 and just focused on results, Nisbett’s got a few good years left in him, etc etc.
