I don't see a great deal of difference between normal Republicans and Democrats in relation to the global economy.

I do hope Harris helps Ukraine finish off Russia which will resolve a few global issues. Trump won't do that.

A couple of points on what trump has discussed to date. He wants to reintroduce tariffs which I believe an overwhelming majority of economists have panned (90+%) stating it would push the US economy into recession

And taxation. He again wants to raise the tax burden for low and middle income earners whilst reducing taxes on corporates and the super wealthy. And it appears he wants to 'pay' for the tax reductions by cutting spending in areas like health care and education

Trump is an isolationist, it's not even possible to be not from the US and think his economics will benefit the broader world economy

Trump and MAGA dont understand how inflation works. He walks around bragging about having a good four economic years but he inherited a pristine running economy from Obama that got better due to the economic policies that Obama incorporated before he left the white house. Because it was running smooth, Trump incorporated all his mega wealthy tax cuts and spent outrageous sums of money. Because it takes years for inflationary measures to demonstrate government economic mismanagement and then combined with the non response to Covid that left it to Biden and Harris to clean up, predictably inflation sky rocketed. What did republicans do, blame Biden and Harris. Whats worse is the media let narrative stand and get away with it.

The reason inflation is going down now to 3 year lows is because the economic policies incorporated by Biden and Harris over the previous 3 years have begun to kick in. Meaning it is very likely the economy is going to boom under a Harris presidency. All financial indicators suggest this.

I have never seen a level of disinformation and denial of facts like what is going on now from MAGA in this election campaign. Its become so laughable, so outrageous that I can only come to the conclusion its just expert trolling now. there is no way this many people are as dumb as a box of rocks. Its almost as if people are just competing to see who can say the stupidest shit about Harris to see who believes it.

I think in half the people commenting on Harris negatively probably arent even Trump supporters, they just think its funny as to what gets repeated in the media. I have been following the election campaigns for over 12 months. From the primaries to now and what we are seeing is downright the worst level of election campaigning I have ever seen from anywhere on the planet.

Im going to be honest, im burnt out. The negativity and outright stupidity is making me angry. Im going to probably tune out from much of the commentary from now on. Probably still comment on here from time to time but omg, life is too short to surround yourself with the dumbest rhetoric from the stupidest people on the planet.

I can give you a quick view from a macro economic and finance perspective (my career):

The US is leading the G7 nations in terms of total growth out of CV

It has historically low U/E after having the highest U/E since the Great Depression under Trump

Share markets in the US (Nasdaq, S&P, Dow Jones) have hit over 40 records highs this year

Inflation is a global thing due to various factors, but the US is doing better than almost anyone at getting it under control

US interest rates now falling whilst in Oz we wont see that until next year at the earliest

Economic experts have shown a middle class economy booming is MUCH more effective than the 'trickle down' tax cuts for the rich that Trump enacted and will do more of

Inflation under trade protection measures (tariffs on all goods of 10-20%) will become so much worse and also negatively impact GDP in the US. Trump seemingly doesnt even understand the basics of tariffs and who pays for it - importers and consumers - and not the exporting country he thinks. He has no ****** idea - its just embarrassing

Lastly under Trump US gave up global control of many critical minerals needed for the new age economy - rare earths, EV materials etc. Bidens IRA is fixing this

As I have said, the maths doesnt bode well for Trump.

The democrats have consistently scored over 65m votes in multiple elections where as Trump and the republicans have only ever got more than 65m once. Now lets assume like last election the democrats come out in droves to vote and keep Trump out of the white house. Lets say they get over 70m This means Trump would have to get near the same level of votes he got last time to win the swing states and get to 270 electoral college votes.

He has alienated a 3rd of the republican party this time. So its fair and reasonable to assume his voter numbers will be down. Thats why you see grifters like Charlie Kirk running to universities to con students into becoming MAGA. But the likely hood is when it comes to the crunch on election day, the passion to vote for Trump from his own supporters will probably not supercede the 8hr long voting lines and they will likely not vote at all.

Im of the opinion, if Trump gets to 60m votes he will have exceded my expectations. You cant alienate that many people and still expect huge numbers to vote for you. Where is his new voters going to come from? Swing states are swing states for a reason. They vote on policy. Trump has yet to present a policy outside of tax cuts. His campaign only preach to the MAGA echo chamber. Swing states dont operate that way.

If he wins I think it unfortunately sends a very bad message to the world that to a large portion of Americans, a sexual predator and Epstein Island frequent flier as a leader is ok by them as long as a black women doesnt lead.

Its a generic statement with no facts based on absolutely nothing other than stereotypes. The stock market is the single biggest indicator and its purring all over the world. The USA isnt the world nor does it have much of an impact on other countries economies. Australias direct economy is more effected by China and even the boycott didnt really damage it. So this fake belief that any president of one country can effect world economies is complete trash. Its scare mongering, not even at its finest.

I see them not voting, and I even see some that havent refrained from backing Trump maybe even sumbitting scribble or something on a piece of paper.

Politicians by large are not stupid people. They generally protect themselves first. Some of even Trumps biggest supporters in congress are probably questioning the future of it. Some are certainly going to be tossed out.

I also think many are under estimating the impact of the horrendous lies they are regurgitating on their future lively hoods. Cancel culture is a thing and some of these people may find it very hard to afford a living if they cant find a job.
