It's a blatantly unfair situation in the game that matters most. There is little doubt that Adelaide would've won this game at Adelaide Oval.

The capacity argument is not a valid one unless it's applied consistently - the GWS v.s. West Coast final for example would've got more fans had it been played at Subiaco Oval (or even in Melbourne).
Richmond plays and trains at the MCG around 15 times per year. Adelaide plays and trains at Adelaide oval around 170 times per year. Who has the vastly bigger home ground advantage?

BTW we played Adelaide once during the H&A season, at AO with no return bout at the MCG or anywhere else. We'd obviously have beaten them at the MCG and finished above them on the ladder.

What does Wiki say about NRL? Interstate sides haven't had a problem winning that the last 20 years.
As far as i can see only one nrl club has stadium australia as its home ground.

Seems to be a bit of a wembley type of ground where its neutral except for one team.

The team that plays an unearned gf at its home ground.

If we go back far enough then Collingwood have won a lot of flags as well. It is not relevant to the discussion though. Only modern history should be taken into account since the game has changed a lot since 1998, or even 2004.
so should we discount the 3peat of the team of champions in hawthorn?

seeing as we're allowed to chop and change what is relevant to the discussion

But we'd have earned it if the H&A season was fair, right? Swings and roundabouts.
Oh for sure

I mean if you travelled interstate for 50% of your matches.... oh

You guys dont do that well away from the g do you

Where did they deal with these top 4 teams again?

They should have been down the road that the cattery for one of them.

Big chance that would have been the end of their season right there.
uh no.

AFL rules are home state. They've played 1 final there in over 100 years. Get your ****ing hands off of it.

So we won 6 from 11 away then? There wouldn't have been many teams that did that. We also beat Adelaide at the G yesterday in the 'return' bout. Considering the massive differential between the two home ground advantages any fair minded judge (eg, not you) would say that we won overall.

Look at who you beat - the best was 5th lolport - the next best was 14th fremantle

Feel your heart swell with pride at those two huge scalps

The GF was at the G. Thats where the advantage counts at the end of the season. How many games Adelaide played at AO is irrelevant.

2 of those away games were influenced by dubious umps decisions. but y'know that doesn't fit the narrative does it?

Well, the season is about winning the flag and having a good overall year, so yeah, I'm proud of the Tigers. How's your team going, filling you with pride or maybe filling you with salt?

How does Adelaide getting rolled and Eagles and Swans getting their pants pulled down prove there is an advantage?
What have you got to prove there’s an advantage? Nothing.
Years of research proving the existence of home advantage? Is this going to be one of those situations where no matter what's given to you, the bar for acceptable evidence keeps being raised?

Edit: Obviously it will be:

Nothing that relates to AFL in that wiki fan edited article. Keep trying.

But it's not really much of an advantage considering we don't train there. Let it sink in that Adelaide played and trained at their home ground 170 times this season compared to Richmond's 15 at the MCG and even then we had players with even less experience there than that. So, to get to the GF Adelaide had a massive advantage over Richmond and then we beat them in the return bout.

The Dogs wouldn't have won he flag at home if they didn't win their interstate PF v GWS away (and EF v WCE in WA).

Same with Hawthorn the year before, PF v Fremantle away in WA. Still won.

Excuses.

Best team will win.
The dogs did well

Hawthorn lost to us in perth but - dont leave that out - they got a footy lesson at our home ground - and returned the favour at their home ground

WC finished above you on the ladder
Beat you in a fair final at our home ground
Lost to you in the GF when you finished below us

Can you link this stat please - most clubs have training facilities

Grand finalists, head to head over the season, support the grand final result, it can be argued

Except maybe 2017
