As for interstate teams playing more H&A at the G, but but but travel...
We are already traveling for the games, but we are playing at Etihad, Launceston, Hobart and Geelong instead of the MCG.

Ah ok, tyWe are already traveling for the games, but we are playing at Etihad, Launceston, Hobart and Geelong instead of the MCG.

If you honestly believe Melbourne is the only city that would fill a stadium on grand final day then you've probably not ventured beyond your own postcodeThere must be many half brained people around, as I am seeing a lot of people stating that the higher finishing team should get the home grand final....
But even a rotation.. I don't see how it can work. I get the feeling people are looking at U.S. sports and believing that we can copy that model. They have 52 states with multiple cities in many of those states... so we are talking 100+ cities with millions of people and world class venues. This is why the NFL can hold the superbowl anywhere.
We have a total of three cities that give a damn about AFL that actually have teams in those cities. We have two states that have teams that could not care less about the sport and three more states that don't have a team at all.
So explain the rotation and how it would work? Who would it be among? Do you seriously believe that Sydney Siders would go to watch a St Kilda Vs Fremantle Grand Final at ANZ stadium? How would SA go with a grand final with no South Australian team involved? What venue would they use? the QLD teams? What venue could they use? Could Tasmania or the ACT put in a bid? Due to our low population and demographics of where the sport is concentrated, it is an impossible scenario.
Id suggest one game at the g one interstate one at the g one interstate. There must be many half brained people around, as I am seeing a lot of people stating that the higher finishing team should get the home grand final....

Let's not forget the biggest benefactor of the dumbest rule ever in AFL was Adelaide 98 - finished 5th, lost week 1 by 48 points, still got to play in the semi-final and went on to win the granny. Swings and roundabouts with rules favouring you one way or the other...
And they have the Grand Final in Perth between GWS and Gold Coast. Who would actually go to that in Perth!? At least in Melbourne, people would still go. In Perth.. I could see the situation being that if no West Coast or Fremantle in the GF.. then nobody would turn up.
I love how when the interstate clubs loses the GF its because it was played in Victoria not cause the team who beat them were better on the dayGeez sounds like a fair deal is a bit too much to ask for in a national competition. Vic clubs have the odds stacked in their favour and some vic supporters on here are still sooking like spoiled brats
Please don't count 2 interstate sides playing against each other to support your argumentI love how when the interstate clubs loses the GF its because it was played in Victoria not cause the team who beat them were better on the day
Since 1990 there been 18 GF with interstate sides in them, they've 11 out of 18, pretty good agaisnt the odds.
Please don't count 2 interstate sides playing against each other to support your argument
I'd rather travel to the MCG than Alice Springs or Tasmania to play a game.As for interstate teams playing more H&A at the G, but but but travel...
They trained at ao 170 times this year?
Can you link this stat please - most clubs have training facilities
Because the Crows lost, you'll get used to it.1992
1994
1997
1998
2001
2002
2003
The interstate team won the GF, and of course none had home ground advantage.
So why all the effing hand wringing now?
Give members of interstate sides 30 000 tickets and you're on the moneyIs it the travel or the ground itself that supporters of non Victorian clubs believe is the issue? Lots of circular arguments that don't even reach common ground of what the issue is and therefore have no chance of consensus on how to fix it.
If it's the ground (and in my opinion the ground is more of an issue than the travel itself)....how about instead of working out how to take the GF away from the MCG, the focus shifts to how to make the MCG a fairer solution? I personally believe the GF belongs at the MCG. Yes, even as an Eagles fan who believes the current 'way' has cost us at least one premiership (and thank goodness we got Geelong and Sydney in our flag years to take the issue out of the equation), I would hate to see the GF moved away from the MCG.
There's been talk of a boutique ground in Melbourne with say a 30,000 capacity. There's Eddie talking about shutting down Etihad and building a new stadium on the other side of town. What if Eithad remained and one of the other two solutions also came into place. No team has MCG as their 'home ground' and it is used solely for a marquee match up each week and a handful of other games throughout the year. Work the fixture so every team in the AFL plays an equal number of games at the ground.
There are a thousand logistical issues to work through to see this happen, but if you could pull it off, the GF remains at the premier ground in the country and it becomes a neutral ground for the biggest game of the year ala Wembley Stadium, but without the waste of sitting empty like Wembley does for much of the year (which clearly as a country we don't have the luxury or desire to leave a 100,000 seat stadium empty for much of a season).
Access to the ground is huge.
Until we get more of a fair go on it with some training time allocated during the year then Vic sides should be banned from training on Perth Stadium (and AO, Gabba and so on). We can't train on your grounds, why should we let you train on ours? Sorry guys, cant fit you in, gotta let the grass grow.
But we are allowed to train on Adelaide Oval, so SA teams can get on Perth Stadium.... and so forth.
Might sound petty. Might only win you 4 points a year. But we have to fight back somehow.
I posted a solution for that earlier in the thread that allows fair time on MCG for all clubs.Vic clubs rarely train on the MCG. Even less etihad
Because the Crows lost, you'll get used to it.
So why aren't North,Dogs and Saints supporters complaining about the disadvantage of G.F at the G when we get 1/2 games a year?
And for the "everyone plays there equally" argument explain to me how making the big vic clubs and MCG tenants play less games at the G and lose revenue along with the Afl so everyone shares the ground will have a chance in hell of working in a realistic and financial way for the Afl?
Ah so now it's the travel!Because its 5 mins down the road. It may as well be a home ground final for your fans.
We arent talking financially, this is about whats fair. You know. What Victorians constantly complain about with academies and the like.

Actually it is. Easier for your fans as they arent having to fly in and take multiple days off work.Ah so now it's the travel!
unfortunately this isn't about travel either and your 5 min down the road is a stupid excuse.
Again I offered a fair solution a few pages back. Not my fault reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.So why aren't North,Dogs and Saints supporters complaining about the disadvantage of G.F at the G when we get 1/2 games a year?

I'll go back and read it when i get the chance.Again I offered a fair solution a few pages back. Not my fault reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.
