Exactly. Geelong and Adelaide both got a home game against Richmond, but we didn't get one against them.

Play round 6 or round 21 at the G instead of Adelaide/Geelong and Richmond win, finish top of the ladder, and get a home final anyway.

Richmond:
9 H&A MCG games, 5 games against non-MCG tenants. 16 H&A games within their state.

Adelaide:
12 H&A AO games. 10 games against non-AO tenants. 12 H&A games within their state.

Dare I say that less travel, more games within your home state, and massively unfair advantages during the finals series is of much greater value than having an extra 5 games in which you have a 'true' home ground advantage. And what does a 'true home ground advantage' really mean? Is it really that much more difficult for Richmond to defeat Hawthorn at the MCG than it is for Port Adelaide to defeat West Coast at AO?
How did Port Adelaide do in 2014 when they moved to a different stadium? Pretty decent if you ask me, especially considering that their 'significant home ground advantage' was essentially non-existent for most of that year. Right? I mean, with a new stadium, you'd think that the home ground advantage would be somewhat negated. Or are there more factors at play, such as not having to travel and having greater crowd support? I guess if these factors do indeed exist, the significant home ground advantage you talk about isn't really all that significant.

I am not disputing that. But some have said it was the SANFL who needed the VFL but not vice versa. The fact is, both needed eachother.

The simple fact is, the game needed to go national, and given the state of most of the leagues and major clubs around the country, the VFL was best placed to make it happen.
