Game Day Intraclub- Roos v Roos Sat Feb 18th -Arden St

Great to see the boys in action today, Powell and Curtis my 2 personal biggest improvers, but plenty more to like overall.

A big thumbs up to the club, considering it was only an intraclub hitout, no dramas with the live stream, commentators actually knew most players names, a couple of good cameos in the commentary box by Liam Shiels, and Emma Kearney, and Nth website already has the full replay up to watch, well done.
Just an observation but everything at the club seems more organised these days.

The on-field stuff looks very organised, when was the last time Family / Fan Day had a published itinerary as it did today, and the social stuff has been excellent. Seems like all departments are stepping up their game, at this rate we might even be allowed to use promised guest passes in the Premiership Club.

I'm quite fond of my reserved seat and access to Mountain Goat beers but Marvel has been lifeless as a Roos supporter for years (outside of the Tigers game last year).
This is it though. There is no atmosphere at football stadiums, it's all a delusion. When your team is winning, that's "atmosphere."

Re the ruck situation I think today clarified for me what I think the structure should be. Starting ruck is Goldy with CCJ on the bench to cover a few minutes of ruck each quarter while also giving Larks and Charlie a few minutes spell when required. I know we loose a little compared to those two when he's up forward, but its about buying them extra capacity at the end of the game from those breaks. I think starting up forward before moving into the ruck may help get him into the game too. Limits Charlie's ruck exposure.

I don't think X can cover a forward position but if Goldy is not available its X starting ruck with CCJ in the same support role. (Free is break glass in an emergency)

Was mentioned on the broadcast that Clarko has brought in a 3rd Party organisation that deals with stuff related to organisational identity, culture and running, which he used at the Hawks.

Wonder if this has been something that has been implemented due to suggestions from that org.

Two more practice games against quality opposition to sort this out but I would say based on the way they started today that Xerri was rated ahead of CCJ. By the end of the game, that may have changed but they both have an opportunity to claim that spot supporting Goldy.

As a pure ruck replacement for Goldy?

I don’t see it, but happy to be proved wrong re Xerri v CCJ. Not writing CCJ off, but he has to overcome a few challenges first.
Xerri is a dud. I have no hope for Xerri, I have no belief he will cement a spot in our side. CCJ, has shown more in his outings will be at least 1000 times the player.

Interestingly, the South East Melbourne Phoenix (NBL) played at John Cain and the State Basketball Centre this season. John Cain was about 1/3 to 1/2 full whilst the State Basketball Centre was sold out (due to reduced capacity).

Given they won most of their home games at both stadiums, John Cain had a good atmosphere (due to winning) but the atmosphere at SBS was electric.

Still, as you mentioned, winning does make the world of difference.

So today we beat ourselves. Nice to read reports here that the standards seem to have improved. Can't wait for the Tiggers game to get a good indication of improvement (or otherwise).

I don't think so. Xerri a far superior ruck to CCJ. And with Comben, we wouldn't need CCJ in the forward line. (But CCJ is a much better mark than Xerri.)

I think it's Sonja actually.

Those lights at etihad though..

No one wants to go and watch a team that gets ****ing floggd every week. I even chose to work instead of going to the footy. I don’t know about you but im not a masochist during saturday and sunday arvo’s

Playing against actual opposition has been our weak spot over the past 5 years or so.

I don't expect that to change much over the next 2 weeks and I am not expecting a win - I just hope (and expect) that we will be more competitive than back to back 10 goal defeats.

Going to Arden St to watch football is quaint and nostalgic but I wouldn't give up reserved seats under a roof at Docklands to stand out in the rain in the middle of winter.
You lucky bastard. In my day we couldn't afford winter. Winter was reserved for all those silver-spoon Melbourne Grammer types. Carry out the slops, boy, and if you do it well for 40 years maybe your grandchildren can dream of having some winter some day.

Free reminds me of Tom Campbell the way he moves

I wrote Greenwood off but he surprised me…moving a lot better than last year, not even wearing strap.
Seriously, how good is Cunners

6 Clearances
8 Tackles
2 Assists
3 Goals 1

Easy to forget just how bloody good he is.
He looks so natural up forward. Moves to the right spots, clunks everything and converts. I think Russell said he has kicked 10-12 goals in the 3-4 match sims and intra today.

I can't be the only one that thought Xerri beat Goldy today.
You're not. I thought he beat him too. He played very well. I rate X highly. I think the coaches do too given he was given sole ruck duties for his team.
