I know it's shot very carefully, and it certainly doesn't appear rushed or cheap, but the actual quality of the film used could be a lot better.

What this guy said. It's not as if the show has a lot of special effects to push it over budget, it's just that it's on a smaller network and has a lesser budget I'm guessing. But it lacks the production values IMO that other shows have. For instance dexter looks better than breaking bad image wise. For mine breaking bad has a dull sheen to it. It's like NCIS, or channel seven's footy coverage. Thankfully for breaking bad, it's a much better than those two so it escapes.

It's a great show, but it doesn't wow you with it's images. It more relies on the beauty of the ares in which they use for shooting than their production values.

I got put on to this show on my holiday by 2 Americans in New York. The pilot episode is amazing, and the rest of the series is phenomenal! Easily my GOAT tv series.

The last handful of episodes of season 4 had me so gripped i watched them until 4:30am in the morning despite having to wake up at 6am for work.

**SPOILER***
Think it was the 3rd to last episode where Walt wants to use the "end game" move with Saul, and vanish to protect his family. Returns home to find the savings are all gone and that he has that histerical desperate laugh as Tyla looks down on him - heckin'g epic scene.

lol at dexter. great couple of seasons followed by a couple of average ones and one that was utter garbage.
Not lol at all, Dexter's a brilliant show. Despite weakining as the seasons progressed, it was certainly a refreshing take on the one dimensional American crime drama genre.

As for Breaking Bad, it'd be up there with Sopranos, West Wing, Deadwood , Game of thrones and Lost.

Ignoring the ending of LOST, it was the most interesting show I've ever watched to be honest.

it's a great show and brilliantly shot, but the wire is better, if only for the scope and depth of it's storytelling. season 4 of the wire is the best example of quality storytelling on an intertwined micro and macro level.

No no, it's not that, as kong said the film quality could be better.

Ummm look at these amazing production values... They managed to realistically make it look like Gale was in space.

I think the best thing about the series, and where it has it over something like the Wire, was it's unpredictability. I could never quite terll where it would go next. The Wire had good character development but I ended up getting a little bored with it.

The greatest series of all time for me was Deadwood. It is a travesty they didn't go longer.

I'm a big comedy fan myself. Favourite shows:

Simpsons (1-12)
South park
Scrubs (excluding the last season with the new character)
Frasier
Inbetweeners
Fawlty towers
I.T. Crowd (havent seen much tbh)
Futurama (underrated)

Out of them the only I would consider for best ever would be the simpsons and frasier.

Supernatural would have to be my favourite show of recent times but it is starting to dip in quality.

ps: family guy is shit tv

Busted through entire BB series in the past month. Great characters, actors, writing and some brilliant twists, but I'd have Dexter and Six Feet Under over it. Can't wait for season five though, I'm really keen to see where they take it.

This show is terrible. I'm 4 episodes into the second season and his wife is a bitch with a weird thing on her neck.
