if el masri wasnt playing for the dogs i bet you wouldnt barrack for them

I'm guessing this is for me???

mmm No.

He might be Lebanese but his not Christian:) No offence to Lebaense Muslim's but i wouldnt idolise one if my life depended on it. I have been a Bulldog supporter since birth ( I was born with Blue n white blood)...:thumbsu:

League is less polite, huh? Yeah they always tell the ref to f*** o**. You people have no idea what you are talking about.

If any code tells the ref to f off it would be the undisciplined game of Aussie Rules.

Hmmm perhaps you could remind what Joey was saying to the linesman last year then? Didn't look like he was complimenting him on a job well done.

Do you know what you are talking about???????????

League positions are no longer specialised. Take for example the Bulldogs 5/8 playing second row this weekend. This would never happen a few years ago.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.

Some more examples. Lockyer fullback to 5/8th. Gasnier Centre to 5/8th. Anasta 5/8th to lock then back again constantly. Mason Prop or Backrower. Inglis Wing, Centre, 5/8th.

I will admit that most forwards stay as forwards and most backs stay as backs after they have played there in First Grade for a few years but even that is not certain.

There would be more specialised positions in AFL then in League

Players are more flexible, bigger players playing wing and smaller players playing big man positions (D.Johnson) but that wasn't my point. For example the wings don't get involved in the game much and are just finishers. The big blokes up front aren't going to crack it open with a big run or great pass. In AFL every player has a chance to do the same thing. Backmen can go for a run, spot up targets if they're good enough. I'd like to see a player like Sonny Bill get more involved in the game.

I'm a dogs fan. Also Sonny is probabely one of my favorite players. I think he could go on to be one of the greatest playing league. But in saying that he would be a very ordinary AFL player. He can't kick well and all his skill comes from agression first. He would never go well at AFL.

Bowen, Lockyer, Thurston, Inglis, etc would all be very good AFL players but Sonny is a terrible example

Go have a game. Believe me there is planty of skill. If you ever get a chance go play Aus Tag or Touch Footy. Then you will see how much skill there is in League.
I had to play "Touch Footy" when I was doing my basic training, they were throwing the ball around and I went wtf is this game? Looks more like League than Footy was sorta fun but wouldnt claim it as any example of spectacular skillsets.

Very few league players would make it in AFL. The body shape is all wrong, and the kicking skills to foreign. I doubt we'll see any great player poaching like league and union (or AFL and Gaelic) have.

Take a look at the Swans' two players who are sons of league legends: Jack and Bevan. Both are short people. They can only get a game because they've been playing AFL from their teenage years.

How tall is Willie Mason.? 6'2" tops. He'd just be another "utility" in AFL. Not big enough for a key position. Not agile enough for a runing player.

For me and many others it is

SOO>>>>>NRL GF

The survey that was on the 'offsiders' program , done by sweeney i think it was had the SOO ahead of the NRL GF in the 'one you want to watch' stakes.

Mock origin all you like, it will be the biggest story next week.

You wouldn't know it's on if you're in any other state other than NSW or QLD .

Who are the Australian Aussie Rules (there's a name) playing this year?

Australia played the RAS (Republic of South Africa) this year and last year .
PNG played in QLD this year .
Next year is the year of the International Cup where countries all around the world play Australian Football . IMO it'll be NZ crowned winners .

:)

Actually he is 6'5" you fool.

That makes him 195cm and 4cm taller then Brendan Fevola and as tall as Melbourne's ruckman Jeff White.

He could easily play centre half forward, he is agile enough. I mean if Tony Lockett and Jason Dunstall, both big guys, can kick 2500 goals between them, then anything is possible.

Mason might even be capable as a fill-in ruckman ...

There is no doubt that like AFL players, league players are getting taller and bigger all the time. That is the nature of most competitive sports.

It'd be interesting to compare what AFL state of origin sides in Qld and NSW would look like to Rugby league SOO sides from Victoria and WA.

Here are the AFL sides http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320715

NSW looks quite strong, not THAT much worse than WA and SA. Qld is a bit weaker but would still beat some current AFL sides

LOL @ a survey that bases its claims on 1000 people from each major city. I doubt it would have much credibility

Very few AFL players would be able to play League as well. They would get snapped

LMAO, seriously its a great club game but is not international, those games have no meaning

If the AFL wanted to really make the AFL strong Australia wide they would push for a State of Origin type challenge with all states involved. Would be a major boost to the game

He would smash any AFL player as well. Would be funny though, I have only seen him kick the ball a couple of times.

Agreed. The "Allies" concept is a joke. NSW and Qld could both field comptetative teams on their own. Most Tasmanians would absolutely love to see a Tassie team, we'd probably get towled up but you never know.

Do you have any undertanding of statistics? A properly selected sample group of 5000 (5x1000) would be accurate to within +/- 1-2%.

I studied statistics. The first thing you learn is that anything can be 'proven' with statistics. I won't argue on this matter as if you had done the same you would know that statsitics prove everything but in realisty mean very little.

Silly, silly boy. Was Goodes selected for Australia?

I was waiting for this. Perhaps you could remind me what the consequences of this were for him?? Remember the original statement about league players telling refs to f off, give me 3 more examples.
As I said, AFL is without doubt the most undisciplined code.
