Is North Melbourne the most irrelevant club in the league?

Freo Id say, No history OR future:(

I must admit, when I saw the words "irrelevant club" in the one sentence, the first thing I thought of was Fremantle.

North Melbourne might very well be the poorest club in Victoria, but one thing you can't fault them for is regularly making finals. Since the mid 90's, the number of years they've made the finals would outnumber the years they haven't.

Hard to know which is the dumber statement. Both betray the fact that you have no idea what you're talking about.

I know what I'm talking about. It's common knowledge your club is a rabble and can only survive on hand outs.

Besides Richo and Cousins, all players that you have mentioned are fringe players and will most likely be gone at the end of the year. The difference between our 2 clubs is you need your older players - Johnson, Aker and Hudson in particular to have any sort of success which will see you fall way down the ladder when they retire.
Wait - so you have 2 needed older players vs our 3?
THAT is what you think makes Richmond's future so much more promising?

Oh dear

Look at the big pile of tins you rattled outside opposition games ...

Crikey SLF, that picture looks like a cross between a St Vincents fundraiser and a Dodgy Brothers sketch mate... even without the Tigers sign in the background, the overall image just reeks of Richmond ;)

As you can see, i'm a ****ing genius. Everything i have written there is pretty much right. I also predicted that Sylvia would become a better player than Wells before the end of their careers, and was proven right in only about 3 months.

I own all these North Melbourne fools

Except that you didn't predict we'd be ravaged by injury causing us to slide. On Sylvia - he's had a good year. Finally. Wells has been restricted by injury this year. Over their careers so far, Wells is still ahead. Comfortably.

Does the phrase 'Save Our Skins' ring any bells for you, champ?

Actually, I would have thought the word 'rabble' would be more appropriate for a club that hasn't won a flag since 1980, and is usually s******ed at as 'Ninthmond'.

Oh yeah, it does...Wasn't that around the same time you team nearly got killed off by Carlton?

No, we neever were in danger.

You though scabbed money off the football world at large. Including myself.

I want my money back.

Not like Ninthmond ever gave any return on it.

Killed off by Carlton? That's an odd way to put it.

While you were out rattling tins, North decided to raise funds by selling shares. Elliott decided to get smart by trying to buy shares, but unless he got a controlling interest, they were of no use to him........so thanks for the donation, Jack. :)

The reality is that several clubs were on the brink of bankruptcy in those days. North avoided it by going private (and only last year reverted to a member-owned structure). But we were never out on the streets, rattling the charity collection cans.

North are easily the most boring team in the comp to watch at the moment.

Their most exciting player is Drew Petrie.

Should have never gotten rid of Daniel McConnell. Would have been a star!

Form is down at the moment ; but 'easily more boring' than Melbourne? Freo? Eagles? Have you actually watched them lately?

To be fair Jacko, not putting a lot of wins on the board at the current moment doesn't automatically equate to boredom mate- there are plenty of exciting players in the team now, and if we didn't have the injuries we've got at the moment, you'd see a helluva lot more of them.

(I'm sure the same can be said for North, with all the injuries you guys have had this year as well)

Apart from that, we've had a bunch of games that went right down to the wire this year, including last weekend, of course.

You should've seen that game, and the WCE game at Subi, or the Bulldogs one at the 'G, for instance. The Freo & Brisbane matches last year, especially, were wildly exciting to watch.

North are an absolute rabble. The very fact that their CEO is spending so much time worrying about a journalist speaks volumes for how badly managed they are.

To be honest, the stay-in-melbourne has gone worse than I even predicted.

The look on JB's face the past few weeks gives the impression he knows he's beat.

Melbourne. Not much joy at the moment, but the future looks bright.
Bulldogs. Playing well. I do hope they snare a flag in the next 5 years.

Probably only Freo challanges north in the "who cares" stakes.

I actually feel sorry for North and their supporters are being sold by a guy who just likes hearing the sound of his voice. IMO he has made some massive mistakes.

Firstly turning down the GC offer and sway with board with a plan of "White Knights" who are supposedly going to invest into the club which never eventuated and eventually Eugene announces to deflect away from whether the white knights were real or not a statement that the supporters are the real white knights of the club.

We next have the club struggling for members and had a public appeal last season, Eugene comes out on radio and blabbers on about how North Melbourne are aiming for 40k+ members this year. He basically told the public indirectly that North dont need to be saved anymore, so the people from other clubs or casual supporters that bough tickets last year obviously would have felt that they didnt need to buy them this year and surprise suprise membership is down about 5k. Anyone with half a brain could see that saying that stuff publicly was a disaster waiting to happen. He needed to play on that North needs members and how important it was that everyone from last year needs to sign on again to keep the club financially viable no go on there ridiculously boasting how they are aiming for 40k members (which was never going to happen if anyone actually thought that North would even get 35k members let alone 40k this year then you need to get off the juice).

We now have the flip flop about playing games in Melbourne, they announced this year how great it was that they were making a long term commitment to playing 11 home matches in Melbourne and now within 12 months are scrambling to try and sell games again exactly the spot NOrth have been in for years. Apparently Eugene was a genius for getting North back to Melbourne for 11 games and now he is apparently a genius for negotiating to sell home matches

What's the excuse going to be once the stadium deal is done and North still are struggling. The sad thing is that the stadium deal is most easy thing to handball the blame to and thats all you seem to hear from Eugene is him hanging his hat on the stadium deal excuse.

I dont want North to die, but I hope they have a plan or something because from what I have seen so far I am not very confident and I think that Euge is telling people what they want to hear (the 40k member comment IMO is a clear sign of thowing stuff out there to give your supporters false hope), telling the supporters how important it is for the club to get 11 home games in Melbourne only to turn around and start selling home games again the next year. There seems to be no plans besides telling North fans what they want to hear while making decisions on the fly.

What worries me is that the reality is that there is no Bucks and it looks like they are going to have a low profile coach next season and honestly a couple of bad years and it could be game over for them.

I seem to recall you predicting imminent disaster for North if we stayed in Melbourne........so 2 seasons later, how is 30k-odd members this year, and a new deal with Mazda, 'worse than even you predicted'?

It's funny, you keep bleating that no-one cares about North, yet you spend 10 hours a day online, trying to talk us down.

That might mean something if you'd bothered to get your facts straight.

Just one example : you crow (pun intended) about the supposed flipflop on selling home games, yet Brayshaw said in November 07 that, in the short-term, especially while stadium deals remained as they were, it may be necessary to sell some home games.
