I can't wait for the tears when Rockliff doesn't get traded.

Plenty will be disappointed if he doesn't move on for sure. I do still think he's likely to be at the club next year. He shouldn't be captain but sacking him is a problem too and there's not a heap of choice although Zorko is a candidate. It's a problem for the club.

The other Dayne is our best choice if he can get healthy.. Beams speaks like a leader, dedicates himself like a professional should, has a solid family life, is amongst our best players, is only 26 and has 3 years to go on his contract.

Maybe. He's a good fella I'm sure but I don't think leadership has been seen as his thing simply because he's not that vocal and a bit quieter. He also just needs to get back on the field.

The only reason he's like that is because he got out of melbourne. He was a party boy before he settled down up here which is good on him. I don't think he'd be a good captain though, he's very laid back. My votes on robbo, I know he wants to be a leader. Think it will also make him a better player.

Remarkable how quickly things can change.

6 weeks ago I would have been all for trading Hanley but very keen to keep Rocky, but with seemingly each passing day you learn more of the issues these 2 are causing/involved in/responsible for/linked to and can't help but conclude the club is clearly and overwhelmingly better off with out them.

He strikes me as more of a private type (at least his public persona is). I don't know if Zorko is the best option, but he might be the only realistic choice right now. Beams also has plenty of questions re: his past that I'm not overly comfortable with.

What I find interesting about this thread is posters have generally fallen in to 2 categories - those discussing the value of the player to the team and those discussing the value of the person to the club.

Clearly Rocky is one of our better/best players, but I think in order for the club to turn the corner we need to think about more than just on-field value. If it was just about on-field value then clearly you would keep Rocky.

We as a club need a serious culture/attitude/values/accountability change, and it has become abundantly clear that the off-field element of Rocky is not where it needs to be.

I just think that posters aren't actually (for the most part anyway) arguing the same argument.

Clearly we need Rocky on the field. But it is also just as clear that we don't need him off the field if that makes sense.

Just a slight intrusion and I mean it with respect.

Daniel Rich? He strikes me as a bit of a leader, surprised he isn't captain. Are there any reasons behind it or is my observation of him way off?

He's a pretty cruisy, non-confrontational surfer dude. Don't think it's a position he'd particularly crave.

I don't think a re-tweet from a musician when Rocky was 21 is totally relevant. I'm not trying to be a dick btw, just suggesting that that's a pretty harmless action by a young kid at the time.

This, see this, this is the problem. Sometimes in life you just need to get out of your comfort zone and commit to the cause. Take ownership and really become involved in setting the course. This team belongs to Rich, Beams and Zorko now. This is their time, they just need to want to make it happen.

Look out....he rated a girl on a 1-10 scale, I'm changing my vote to "he's not the right man," pfft
Look out, you clearly don't get just how bad this is.

He objectified women, a minority in terms of participants in our game, what a way to make them feel welcome. Oh, don't forget this whole thing about setting an example for young kids, surely we are beyond this crap. Someone should also tell the new women's team to make sure they all look their best for Rockliff to ensure they're accepted as well...
