Is the AFL taking revenge on North via the draw?

On a brighter note it looks as though the Dees are back in the AFL's good books.

14 MCG games and no double ups against Geelong, St Kilda and Dogs :thumbsu:

What's the breakdown on that ... IE ... you're flogging some home games next year again no?

So how many home MCG? Then away MCG I'm presuming against Richmond, Collingwood ... and?

I may make my annua trip to the Fremantle trophy cabinet in order to see how much dust has gathered in its vast empty space.

On a serious note, be good to have ya.

you mean it'll be good to have my $30..

oh and we don't have a trophy cabinet, just a spoon rack. though if I offered you $20 to take the spoon rack North Melbourne would fall over itself to accept it.

We are not in the business of winning wooden spoons.

Anyway, you should come over. You're a good chance of getting a decent seat.

You can even come down to the new Arden Street facility and see some real life actual AFL premiership cups.

Oh get over it.

Vlad would come after us? That's why he went to court with the stadium operators in order to get us a deal that guarantees our survival?

Your North hating is tiresome and predictable. I suggest you refocus your efforts on Carey stuff or something because on the financial/politics side, you've got nothing.

Finances is early days SLF, you are obviously not a student of history but I won't get into that here and as for politics once again early days.

If you think $100,000 extra for your home games ($1.2m per year) will save you when you already run at actual $2m operating losses (or do you treat AFL hand outs as revenue these days?) then its not me who knows little about finances. I actually thought your draw was bad and was not having a go but Roo fans are so bitter and twisted they see everything as an attack on their right to exist.

Fact is you are still dependent on external funding from the AFL and until you get off that you will always be vulnerable and also subject to being exploited by the AFL over things like clash jumpers, fixtures etc.

FWIW I think the 'fixture' is probably the biggest problems in the AFL in terms of fairness, both in terms of ability of teams to make finals and make cash.

I'd actually suggest this thread is a passive aggressive troll by a notorious North hater hoping the usual suspects will pile aboard with their 'Shoulda gone to the GC' and 'Too many Vic teams' crap.

Coming from a Collingwood supporter, obvious sledge at Eugene Arocca.

Brayshaw would be a very unhappy man today and would be questioning the clubs relationship with the AFL and his CEO's ability to negotiate.

I agree though that there is plenty of fuel for cynics to suggest North are being kept malleable. While e.g. Collingwood plays seven Victorian clubs twice, North get four non-Victorian clubs plus Melbourne, Bulldogs and St.Kilda.

Whereas I agree at times the AFL doesn't do North too many favours in comparison with some other clubs, it has to be remembered that the Fixture is simply a money making exercise, just like every thing else the AFL does.

It's not about equality for all, it's about $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

If the AFL can make more money giving North a better deal, then that's exactly what they would do.

Finances is early days SLF, you are obviously not a student of history but I won't get into that here and as for politics once again early days.

This means what precisely?

If you think $100,000 extra for your home games ($1.2m per year) will save you when you already run at actual $2m operating losses (or do you treat AFL hand outs as revenue these days?) then its not me who knows little about finances.

The new stadium deal means we won't LOSE money at shit games. We'll still get money off the AFL because the draw is ridiculously biased in favour of clubs that have been unsuccessful in the last half century yet still have a residual support of ... people from all social sectors.

As a result, the ASD is there.

I actually thought your draw was bad and was not having a go but Roo fans are so bitter and twisted they see everything as an attack on their right to exist.

Two things here.

1) Anything you think about North is more often than not wrong.

2) You mention bitter and twisted. Read my, and other North fans on this thread, and we're saying the draw is OK. I mean, we can't all be big slow moving fudd clubs that manage to lose huge amounts of money on what should be one of the most lucrative licensened spaces in the State.

And before you go blaming Eugene, how is it Eugene can turn North's finances around and yet just a few months after he leaves, Collingwood's fall apart? It's amazing isn't it?

Fact is you are still dependent on external funding from the AFL and until you get off that you will always be vulnerable and also subject to being exploited by the AFL over things like clash jumpers, fixtures etc.

OH NOES! We have to wear another jumper. So we design another one. And make money off it.

Yet MIGHTY Collingwood have won one flag since Lou Richards was playing. Wearing their entirely unoriginal rip off jumper the whole time.

Relevance of your point?

FWIW I think the 'fixture' is probably the biggest problems in the AFL in terms of fairness, both in terms of ability of teams to make finals and make cash.

FWIW ... ah, really ...

And Essendon and Carlton.

Look, we're North.

We are not a sausage club like Collingwood or Essendon - who both refused to believe Friday nights could work.

We will be fine. FFS - we are about to open the new Arden Street. This kind of chat, not from yourself but perhpas from posters closer to Smith Street, is plain moronic.

Your logic is actually wrong here, it's not an extra $100k for home games, its more like - NOT losing $150k to gaining $100k - about a $250k turn around per game (talking low drawing interstaters).
From a purely football standpoint, the draw is not so bad, and we only play 2 teams from this years top 8 twice.

Ver interesting to see how North for the first time in how many years dont have a home game against Collingwood???

Might have something to do with Brayshaw whinging about getting screwed over the clash jumper and then it came out that North traded off this fact to be guarenteed a home game against collingwood over the past how many years???

Well Brayshaw blaim the AFL for a decision their club made to appease its supporters!

Look forward to raising the issue again in 2013 when North may get a home game against the Pies again as the home team... BTW All your actions have consequences Brayshaw - you create your own destiny!

Any club that finishes down the bottom end of the ladder gets treated like shit. That goes for the draw, telecasts, and even umpiring quality.

I'll admit if they were the Gold Coast Kangaroos, they'd be getting different treatment altogether.
wrong

We played only a handfull of friday nights durring our 4 GF's and 3 Flags

Is that you Andy?

Yes it is, future season fixtures-
Richmond v Carlton x4
Collingwood v Essendon x4
Collingwood v Carlton x4

An earlier post has stated North's CEO Arocca's pleased with the draw, with an improved deal at jihad.

What pisses me off the most is we haven't played Essendon twice since 2001, the year of that massive comeback by the Bombers. It's my favourite game of the season and this year we play only them once yet again and it's not till round 17.

This will all come to a crunch when North finish above Collingwood in the 8 and have home rights to a final.

Collingwood will have to supply an alternate strip or the AFL will have to concede that there is no clash and we can all move on.

its only a crap daw because they are North. victim mentality down there.

Teams have had far worse over the year, even this year hawthorn had a pathetic one, playing poor drawing teams at home and the high drawing ones away. Even this year most of our home games are low-drawing.

Its the cards you are dealt, figure out a way to play them!

I dont mind it apart from the low number of games at the G. That is what happens when your a lowly team like say, Melbourne(14 MCG games). :)

I like what the NMFC CEO has to say about it-

This is an excellent draw purely from a football perspective with a good spread of interstate matches and reasonable breaks between games.

"With five Saturday afternoon home matches, there is an excellent opportunity for our supporters and members to attend our games at the traditional time. We want to encourage our fans to turn up in numbers to support our young and developing team on what will be an exciting journey.

"From a commercial point of view the draw will be challenging, however, the recent improvement in the stadium deals will allow us to invest more in fan development and crowd engagement.

"Our partnerships with the City of Ballarat and the City of Wyndham together with the opening of the Learning and Life Centre will help us increase our membership and grow our crowds." - chief executive Eugene Arocca
Address's the OP's incorrect claim as well as blowing the "victim mentality' to bay13.

Victim mentality? I'm not complaining about it. Neither are most of the other North supporters on th theread. Nor is our CEO.

I'd like to see what the idiots will do then!!
