Is there a better field kick than Dale Thomas?

Didaks right foot is about as good as all other left footers for some reason they are usually useless on there oppisite

Didak is actually really really good on his opposite foot.

Doesn't get the distance, but barely loses any precision.

Shaun Higgins would give him a run.

I have watched him a fair bit on TV like most but you really can't appreciate his field kicking until you have seen him live. His kicking to advantage to his teammates is exquisite and dare I say, just about the best in the league. As an opposition supporter I was in awe of the way he weights and positions his kicks, even under pressure he rarely wastes it.

Brilliant footballer.

Kicking isnt one of his strenghs, he's just ok im afraid, if you want to see an elite field kick look at didak or pendles.

Travis Cloke's field kicking is awesome, rarely misses a target. That's why I think it's so frustrating when he misses goals. It's why he seems to kick them for a mile out and miss from close up, because he kicks through the ball like in his field kicking.

Daisy is a very good kick of the footy too but few are better than Pendlebury.
Cloke?? Cloke's field kicking is almost as rubbish as his kicking for goal. Consistently bombs it long to a contest if he marks outside 50, and I've also seen him completely shank them if he tries to kick too quickly.

Didak, Pendlebury, Beams, Krakeour, O'Brien, Reid and Davis are all better kicks. Buckley is a better kick, though obviously not as smart with his use.

Thomas is an above average to good kick on par with players like Sidebottom, Shaw, Swan and Wellingham.

I think what the OP is seeing, is not necessarily kicking ability, but Thomas' footy brain, and ability to consistently pick the correct target. Sometimes however his execution doesn't always match, though it probably did most of Saturday's game.

This guy would give it a shot:

Although tends to get a bit girly (even more so than Thomas).

Finkle?

.

You are forgetting one important detail. Nearly all of Cloke's kicks go inside 50, the hardest kick with which to consistently find a teamate. Reid, as a comparison, almost always kicks from the back half and often to a player on the wing in space, the easiest kick of the lot. Ditto Harry O'Brien.

There are huge margins in degree of difficulty.

Back on topic. Of opposition clubs, Brendan Goddard , Luke Hodge and Paul Chapman are standouts for me. Have much better penetration than Daisy.

Yeah its the hardest kick alright thats why disposal efficency stats are the biggest lot of bullshit ever. When defenders like Jason Blake and Nick Maxwell can continually get better efficency than gun mids the stat means nothing.

Ha ha, yep, that right foot snap heading for the boundary 35 metres out in the GF was absolute crap. Not to mention that he is consistently that crappy on his right!

Most of goddards kicks are backward of centre.

This is Bryce Gibbs to a t. He doesn't spear the ball like Goddard or Rich (even if he is a big kick) but he always positions the ball to the advantage of his teammate and has excellent poise in all situations.

It's what makes him so valuable forward of centre. Doesn't stand out much with his disposal coming out of defence as he's not brilliant at penetrating a zone but when spotting up a target in the forward fifty he's easily the best of the team.

No accident that he's leading the league in goal assists with 6 from 15 inside 50s.

The next best midfielder is Pendlebury with 4 from 15 inside 50s.

Yeah of course they are hes the only player in the AFL that apparently never has an opponent nad only kicks backwards according to you.

Why dont you look up his rebound 50s compared to his inside 50s then, most of his kicks are from defense, im not saying he isnt an awesome kick but as you said in your last post, finding a target from defense is a hell of a lot easier than hitting a target fwd of centre.

His right foot goal in GF2 after a brilliant smother is was just one example of Didaks ability on his right foot. He doesnt have a lot of depth on the wrong foot but he usually hits the target.

Most dont thats the thing with quality left footers there non prefered are very rarely used and compared to multi sided right footers its poor in comparison.
