Is this Hawthorn forward-line one of the best?

So that explains Tom Hawkins unnaturally low tackle count;). Buddy's tackling, you take the good with the bad.

wouldn't it mean Hawkins is a slower and bigger lad so is unable to tackle as often as Franklin due to Buddy's ability to run quicker along with much less muscle mass than Hawkins?

Don't think it has much to do with muscle mass...

Lance Franklin; 196 cm; 102 kg

Tom Hawkins; 197 cm; 101 kg

Probably more to do with muscle twitch fibres.

Milne Gehrig Guerra
Hamill Riewoldt Kosi

St kilda forward line of 2004/05 was pretty good I think. Spread of goals not as good as current hawks forward line though.

No it's not one of the best and the whole team isn't either. Current Hawks are a good side who missed a chance this year like countless teams have in the past. They are not likely to come into discussions of great teams in any way shape or form.

but wouldn't twitch fibres also allow Franklin to jump great heights like Hawkins who reportedly has a 40 inch vertical leap?
Most Olympic athletes like 100 metre sprinters can also jump relatively high and they are full of nothing but muscle, 6ft'1/100kg.
I think you may also find those weight stats to be incorrect as they vary from site to site but it seems Franklin is 101kg while Hawkins is 105kg and only getting bigger with another pre season of weights to come.
I reckon he will weigh in at about 107-108kg's prior to the 2013 season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hawkins does weigh more. He certainly looks it, especially around the legs which would likely explain an explosive leap while not being the quickest big bloke. And I don't have any stats but I don't think Buddy would have a vertical leap far off that himself. He just doesn't seem to play in that particular style for whatever reason and seems to not mind bringing it to ground and then beating the tall defenders where they're weakest, at ground level.

lol

11 goals on a day that panned out to be lovely weather considering the lead-up and only 11 goals?
Sorry but they were only good because of the way they beat up on weak teams which in turn helped their percentage and made them look more impressive than it appeared.

This thread was bumped for the LULZ after the Grand Final, but only 8 people replied (including you)
I don't see the purpose of this latest bump, other than your typical mindless TROLOLOLOLOL

Aren't there rules against these types of gratuitous thread bumps?
There is no new information here, just another weak excuse to troll Hawthorn fans.

Welcome to the Main Board

The objective of the AFL board is to have a board where posters can discuss football in a sensible manner. If you are not interested in posting in a sensible manner, don’t post here. You might be carded, and/or have your access removed. The Main Board Guidelines are also to be interpreted in conjunction with the sitewide rules. There are specific guidelines that all posters ought to be familiar with.

Bumping
Do not bump old threads unless you have new information directly relevant to the topic. That does not mean bumping to show someone was wrong with the benefit of hindsight.

Hopefully for your sake, none of the mods notice this latest breach of the main board rules.

Chewy, you have been constantly reporting everyone of my posts in recent weeks and for the record (I have yet to report one of yours) you have been coming onto the Geelong board throughout the year and giving your lovely thoughts but I have read many of your posts and they are pure hatred toward Geelong.
I am entitled to bump this thread as I copped flack from your supporters when I stuck my head out and gave predictions but just because I was correct in hindsight does that mean I should cop a ban for bumping a thread as ridiculous as this one?
One of the greatest forward line in the history of the game?
Are you serious

If anything, this kind of thread will remind most how hyped and arrogant Hawthorn were made to be in the year 2012.

Don't blame me for getting involved in the thread, you should look at the OP and question him for allowing fans like myself to ask the hard questions.

The Geelong fan who started this thread is a fake Hawthorn fan and was immediately called out by the other Hawk fans who replied. The thread starter started a number of masturbatory Hawthorn threads in a short period.

Funny how none of the Hawk fans who posted in this thread displayed any of this so-called "arrogance"

It's kind of sad how Big Footy's main board is reduced to trolls who post under aliases and start shit threads like this and then months later, other trolls pointlessly bump the same threads as examples of a club's arrogance.

Why are you so determined to ruin this site for everyone else?

You already got involved in this thread after the Grand Final back on September 29th

Why are you bumping this again? Aren't you getting enough attention?

Lol. And the post of the thread goes too.... This guy.

Yes his set shot kicking leaves a bit to be desired at times, but defensive pressure? He averages over 3 and a half tackles a game and leads EVERY kpf in the comp the last three years for tackles. He always ranks in the top few players for tackles inside 50 per game.

Now, you're trying to tell that Lockett had more defensive pressure than the best defensive kpf playing in an era that places the most emphasis on defence in history? Now I have heard everything. And adapting? The players are a squillion times better and fitter than they were twenty years ago. Add to that he would have been largely left one out and I will let you draw your own conclusions.

Nah I think post of the thread goes to you. Lockett might not have laid his three tackles but at least he would have kicked straight, certainly he wouldn't have been poor enough to kick 3 goal from 9 shots :(. It seems fairly obvious but you don't appear to understand that goals are more important than tackles. I think you, Hawthorn and Buddy need to get your priorities right for 2013

This was discussed On the Couch a couple of months ago. Where does this Hawthorn forward-line sits in history? We are the highest scoring team and have the most options up forward. When one player has a quiet one, another pop-ups.

Our line up consists of:

HF: Gunston Franklin Puopolo
F: Rioli Roughead Breust (Lewis running through as a powerful damaging midfielder)

During the year they kicked;
Franklin 66 goals
Bruest 43 goals
Roughead 41 goals
Rioli 39 goals
Gunston 37 goals
Lewis 27 goals
Puopolo 24 goals

Add to that the potential of Hodge who can sit forward and worry an opposition like some of the best forwards in the game.

With a potential all-time great in Franklin and champion elite players in Roughead, Rioli, Lewis, Hodge this forward-line is one of the best we have seen for a while. It comfortably beats anything Geelong had, and rivals the great Brisbane forward-line of Brown, Lynch, Bradshaw.

Will it be remembered as an all time great line-up?

The Hawks late 80s line up would be right up there as one of the best ever IMO, i wouldn't have their current line up up there ATM, need more runs on the board.
