How far off are the greens there?I got some marketing from UNHCR today. 4 page glossy and a 3 page letter - one sentence mention of gaza and palestine. Syria, Afgan and Ukraine colour photos and even a mention of Lebanon "suffering from attacks"....but gaza doesnt exist.
Now i realise UNRWA has the responsibility for palestine but I get this feeling that UNHCR is flying under the radar to keep the whatsapp groups under control....

It’s not a protest vote. We have had an independent MP in Indi for well over 10 years now, it’s better for our electorate.Good thing we have preferential voting, so a protest vote can at least have some impact.
I'm all for protesting, but to start laying blame on artists is just shit.Thom Yorke walks off stage after being heckled by pro-Palestine heckler at Melbourne concert
The Radiohead frontman, in Australia for a solo tour, has previously denounced the Pro-Palestine BDS Movement and defended his decision to play in Israelwww.theguardian.com
He did criticize the divestment thing and play in Israel recently.I'm all for protesting, but to start laying blame on artists is just shit.
Not all Israelis agree with the war, it's not like he did a solo for the IDF.He did criticize the divestment thing and play in Israel recently.
I think that shows that he has a political position on the matter and as such he is fair game for anyone who has different view of things and want,s to argue the point. If performing in Israel for money is okay then so is criticism for such action as this, the bloke paid his money to see him and waited till the end of the show and then unloaded on him,no more than he deserved in my opinion. He did criticize the divestment thing and play in Israel recently.
He didn't have to mouth off at the protester. He obviously favours money before ethics. Not all Israelis agree with the war, it's not like he did a solo for the IDF.
All he asked was for the guy to come up and ask him to speak to his face, rather than sit in a crowd calling him to blame for a genocide. It was a shit act by the protester, by all means shout Free Palestine and what not, but again, to lay any blame on this on an artist is shit.He didn't have to mouth off at the protester. He obviously favours money before ethics.
I'm all for protesting, but to start laying blame on artists is just shit.
He called him up to the stage to get bashed by security, sorry but Thom York is a prick. All he asked was for the guy to come up and ask him to speak to his face, rather than sit in a crowd calling him to blame for a genocide. It was a shit act by the protester, by all means shout Free Palestine and what not, but again, to lay any blame on this on an artist is shit.
I was there the night before, and if the guy was sitting near me that night I'd call him out too.
You are right but as the vote on UNHRA showed they are very much in a minority and with some these settlers running around with sub machine gun,s it probably is not safe to openly voice an opposing opinion. Not all Israelis agree with the war, it's not like he did a solo for the IDF.
No he didn't, ffs.He called him up to the stage to get bashed by security, sorry but Thom York is a prick.
Ironic his last song was karma police too.
Sadly yes Israel as a whole is a very dark place. It needs to stop killing it's neighbours and all Settlers can happily be disposed of as far as I'm concerned. You are right but as the vote on UNHRA showed they are very much in a minority and with some these settlers running around with sub machine gun,s it probably is not safe to openly voice an opposing opinion.
I think the best protest would be to stack 16,000 bags of sand outside the White House with the children's names on them.No he didn't, ffs.
Anyway, much greater tragedies are happenning in Palestine right now for anyone to focus on what a musician sang in Melbourne.
Not all Israelis agree with the war, it's not like he did a solo for the IDF.
ireland has been a shining light in calling out the terrorist state of israel. the terrorist state abides by no rules, and yet the yanks still fund them. shame on them and the other countries who aren’t calling Israel out for the morally and ethically bankrupt place it is
He last played there in 2017.He did criticize the divestment thing and play in Israel recently.
Again - 2017. And Jonny Greenwood is married to an Arab jew born in Iraq. There is nuanceWell yes you right you should be able to play anywhere but by the same token if taking money for playing in such places makes you a fair target also, it is not just about the money but a principle also that is unless you agree with what the Israeli govt is doing.
Overnight the Israeli govt bombed nth Gaza causing anything up to a 100 deaths so as as musician when do you take a stand ? I myself would suggest the time has come and gone.
