You only have to see how emphatically the hostages' families are demonstrating against the israeli gov't......that they know that the gov't has dismissed the importance of the return of the hostages....unless that return is seen as an emphatic win. The gov't would prefer to see the hostages die as martyrs than see them return in any scenario which makes the gov't look like it conceeding anything.

Anyone who thinks the war would end if the hostages were released, are probably two types of people. They either dont really think that, and are bullshitting you and are trying to program you, or they believe it and they have been programmed.
