I have highlighted this part of your post because it is particularly spot on. The major parties in the Western world represent the Oligarchs/donor class, to me it looks like they aren’t even pretending to represent their constituents any more. So they make it all about abortion, race, sexuality etc. keep the plebs fighting over things that the billionaires don’t care about whilst they continue to vacuum up more and more of the wealth at the expense of the masses.

You are right that the major parties can be classed as being on the right, conversely they can also be classed as left wing due to their bipartisan love of big, big, big Govt.

In those seats, The ALP or LNP might not necessarily finish second to get the preferences. Many of these seats used to be safe Labor.

Fowler is a good example. The Independent (Dai Le) took 18% from the ALP and 13% from the LNP respectively in 1st preferences and then won based on the flow of preferences outside the ALP. So a lot of her voters might have put the ALP ahead of LNP, but those were never exhausted.

In the current era where politics is all about bagging the other team, if the two leading teams do that too much, the door is wide open for Independents to finish 2nd on 1st Preferences and get home based on the major party voters putting the other major party last.

Fowler in 2019 had a similar first preference % for ALP as either Blaxland or Watson (the two most muslim electorates) had in 2022. So those two are just as ripe for the picking for an alternative party.

Like climate change, where neither major party is really doing anything, this genocide could be enough to swamp some of these seats with enough protests to go independent.

Its now 0.82 KgCo2/kw hour. Next years official figure is likely to be around 0.7.

That's a good percentage.
