the gf 2009 will be cats v st.kilda. I'm getting a bit of deja vu from last year, where the cats start off flying, ablett gets injured, brave hawthorn also start off with a flyer, with all the other teams clumped up from 3rd-13th.

if this is not the gf, then one of these two will be premiers.

Only 7 rounds in and 2 teams will be 3 games clear of 3rd. Amazing.

Probably get to 4 or 5 games clear within a few weeks.

if premierships were held in May you could make that a lock down.

plenty of months to go yet.

i was thinking about Port in 2007, who thought they would have made the GF.

so i go and check the ladder, and they were on top after Round 7, 2007 :D

although they were 10th just 4 weeks later.

Too early to say Saints. Geelong look bombproof like the last 2 years so it'd be a shock if they're not in the GF.

i'll keep tipping the saints - but i don't think they're potential premiers. we've seen the saints tease us too many times. on top of that, they can't be considered potential premiers (i don't think) just because of their lack of depth. if riewoldt goes down they're in trouble - and given his history, it's hard to believe he could play 25 games in a season. they're ruck division is still shallow as well, and it's hard for me to believe that gardiner would get through a season in one piece.

for mine, geelong are a mile ahead of the pack.

In 2005, the Swans were 3-4 after round 7.

yes, but no other teams were 7-0, especially 2 teams. i.e. we were part of the clump and got lucky/ran into form.

2006 was our peak year, but we unfortunately ran into a superhuman midfield combo.

2005 was fairytale and all but i would have like us to have won the 2006 gf instead since we were totally dominant that year.

cats will NOT win a gf without ablett. every team has that indispensable player you must have at 100% to win grand finals.

the saints main advantage this year is their midfield/backline bursting with players coming into from at the same time. reiwoldt is a class player and he would know that their time has come.

What history is that exactly? Other than the year when he had his collar-bone broken he's barely missed a game

Nice theory, I actually like the outcome but did you forget someone from last year?

The doggies were second up until Round 13 and didn't drop more than a game behind the other two until Round 22.

Geelong then daylight.

Theyve done it for 2 years - weve done well for a handful of games.

Long way to go and there will be another bolter - always is and Hawthorn are still to hit their strapsfor mine, Dogs too.

Still if we keep winning and put the gap between us Im wrapt.

ideally it would have been hawthorn that would have matched the dogs from last year but they are playing like a punctured tire.

mate confident?

I've been a saints fan too long, not till we have won a premiership, the fremantle legal case dismissed and andrew dimetrious tears dried will i believe we won one ....
