It's CRUCIAL that we hang onto Buchanan now!

He's really one of our few remaining quality midfielders if we let go of Schneider, and he has more pace than Kirk, Bolton, McVeigh etc. I'm guessing that Malceski will be brought into the middle next season, so that would be Goodes, Malceski and Kirk, but we need Buchanan there too.

It'll also be interesting to see which role is given to Mattner. I'd love to see what type of midfielder/wingman he could be.

I still reckon Jude will go.. we havent got our tall down back yet..
For sure Buchanon wont go anywhere, but we can replace Jude, Ablett can get his hands dirty an extract the ball, and so can Fossie..
Personally im getting excited about a new look midfield, if Jude goes we will have alot more zip, and better balance..

I agree. I never thought we would trade both Schneider and Buchanan, so now that Schneider is gone, I would expect Buchanan to stay...hopefully...

I think that Bolton could still be up for trade, if we can get the right deal for him. For a while now we have been waiting for some younger players to get their chance, this could be that chance... but then again, we coud end up trading for midfielders. I have the feeling that if we have traded Schneids for a second rounder that this pick will then be used to trade for another player, I can't see a player like Schneider being traded simply to give us another pick in the draft.

I would be interested to hear what everyone thinks on this.

i've just posted something to this effect on another thread.....fresh, new look taking shape....and yes, amon would have to be safe, but jude still seems to be attracting attention....on both dees and pies board there's much interest

I hate the idea of trading any premiership player who doesn't want to leave but I can at least see the point in trading Jude. Our midfield is on the slow side and needs a bit of rebalancing away from grunt and towards flair. I don't underestimate the work that Jude does in the packs but I think the likes of Schmidt, Moore and maybe even Bird can fill the void.

The idea of losing Schneider just doesn't make any logical sense if we say we're short on speedy runners / ball carriers. And he also provides some back-up cover to play on opposition small forwards too - which I see as a huge hole in our team now that Crouch looks unlikely to ever get fit enough or quick enough to reclaim that role in the team.

It makes less sense if its the straight swap for Leigh Fisher. A mid sized backman is one of the last positions we need to fill.
