I'd be up for some golf but I think it's got a bit too much Happy Gilmore to it.

Anyway closer to the time we'll figure out who on Bigfooty is going and who isn't and organise a meet up at the game.
Don't worry if you can play or not, no egomaniacs on this board, all good fun. We could have an award for the worst shot of the day and the highest score of the day... ;)

I'm listening to 'Radio sport' (the NZ SEN) the afternoon host is speaking with great enthusiasm about the AFL coming too Wellington and the all callers are very postive about it even people from other parts of country talking about going down to Wellington for the game

The Saints have been officially welcomed in New Zealand after this week announcing the side will be the first in AFL history to play for premiership points outside of Australia.

A delegation of representatives from the St Kilda Football Club, including captain Nick Riewoldt, attended the launch function in Wellington on Friday.

Senior representatives from the AFL and St Kilda joined Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown and Councillor John Morrison, as well as the Australian High Commissioner Michael Potts in celebrating the signing of the premier partnership agreement between the Wellington City Council.

“I see this match encouraging our Trans-Tasman cousins to deepen sporting and cultural ties, providing mutual tourism and business opportunities,” Wellington Councillor John Morrison said.

“This is more than a sports story. This is an event that celebrates the Anzac spirit, and will provide a significant boost to Wellington’s tourism and economy.”

@BrettAndersonIF: St Kilda will wear a concept jumper that incorporates NZ's Silver Fern for their matches in Wellington. A few mocks I have seen look good.

Just watching the press conference, about the consequence of a short turn around, can't they just have us play Collingwood the week after, and Sydney play Essendon?

Great idea, but too logical for the AFL to even consider.

Maybe the week before would be more appropriate for this season, because ANZAC day falls on a Thursday, I believe, which is a legitimate timeslot at least once or twice in a season (unless they scrapped it this year).

Can't wait to see the "Silver Fern" jumper.

Get the feeling it will look mostly like our traditional jumper but the white strip will be replaced with a large white fern. Anyone got the skills to post a couple of mocks/concepts?

Such a strage excitment building about playing these games in NZ. Much better when compared to the general apathy alot of people had about us playing in TAS. I went and saw us play the Crows down their once. Not much atmosphere.

Will be booking a holiday for ANZAC day 2014 though :thumbsu:

Way too smart for the AFL to consider, they'd have to find a way for the pies to be 'compensated' somehow. Next you'll want the AFL to even up the salary caps...

Ha ha, funny demetrio (spelling?) in his interview on afl.com saying how amazing it is that Sydney have been in the finals so regularly. Well if the AFL keeps campaigning to get them marquee players and increases their salary cap, of course they bloody well keep winning!

Very dubious, especially with next to no differe r in cost of living and a fair arguement tht Perth is now the worst of all. It certainly is in my experience.
