2014 or 2008. Probably 2008.
AFL Club
Hawthorn
Other Teams
Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns
It's been a long time. Some of you never knew Waverley - I tell you what though, Waverley was:

A) Hawthorn to the core (still is)
B) Honest insofar you knew what you were getting and Waverley delivered
C) Not really liked by non Hawthorn fans, could never understand this

I say it's time to bring Waverley back. The people will be ecstatic. The Bay will erupt.

In the middle of arse **** Egypt with a two hour drive even from the boutique north western suburbs. A cold, windy shit hole where a man felt a suburb away from the play.

And if I go to the footy I want to ride on a ****ing boat not this terra firma shit.

Look it was only the Hawthorn base for a wee bit. I seem to recall times when you were based at Princes Park and we were being pushed out to Waverly to pay the bills.

It was a crappy venue, too big of a surface and had the atmosphere of a deserted Azerbaijani laundromat. Not even Angry Anderson in a Batmobile could liven the place up. Also there were zero decent pubs in the vicinity, it was a hike to the Wheelers Hill hotel and that was a hole.

Hawthorn's great era (seven or eight of your flags?) was when they were based in Parkville, so I'm unsure why you'd want to head out to the middle of nowhere again.

My favorite memory of Waverly was when I pulled a bolt out of one of the wooden seats with my bare 13yo hands.

What about the 'haven't kicked a goal chant' during he third qtr of the night final between Hawthorn v Port?

Err nup can't remember that.. what year did that supposedly occur?

99. Still remember the clown in front me during the pre-game fireworks proclaiming to his mate that they were worth the price of admission.

They were shit.

  • Most home and away games and finals played at the venue
  • The best win-loss record, the most wins in home and away games and finals at the venue
  • The only club to win a day premiership at the venue (as well as a further 8 or so night flags)
But you're right, Hawthorn shamed Carlton for success, in their most successful era on their own home deck! Not many clubs have that distinction over a 17 year period!

I think it is damn funny how shepp chose a name synonymous with welching for his alias after he got beaten in that bet. Waverley is a reminder of Hawthorn welching on their home area.

WTF are you on about? Keep posting about other users and you'll be on (another) forced vacation.
