There's a number of recent posts saying "offer them 3rd rounder". Do you seriously see this playing out like a reverse auction, in that our offer gets worse and worse (from a Crows perspective) the longer they hold out on us?

I was surprised we opened with our 2nd rounder, and am now just hoping we don't get carried away from that point. Perhaps a sign that our recruiters don't rate the strength of the draft if they'd take Maric at pick 37 odd over looking at a kid.

If we end up with Maric I hope he kills it next season... can't say I'm feeling confident...

Exactly my point!!! :thumbsu:

The other thing that you guys have to keep in mind is that we don't seriously expect pick 14 in return for him. You have every bloody right to point and laugh at us if we won't budge on that.

Re: What is Maric Worth

You have already put a second rounder on the table and we have already rejected it. Do you actually think that your club would open with it's absolute best offer? That would be sheer ineptitude on your part.

You will offer us something better than just pick 37 by the end of the week, it's now a case of how much better.

Like last year when we offered a third round pick for Houli and Essendon knocked it back and we caved in and got him in the PSD

Re: What is Maric Worth

I can confirm that we are very happy to walk away from this trade week without Maric

He is considered no certainty to be a premiership ruckman and due to this the deal will be made on our terms or not at all.

This comes from a very highly credible source

Just relax guys, the media is only told what clubs want leaked, don't forget this.

Everything is going as it should, we are in for a bumper trade week

Re: What is Maric Worth

Haha get stuffed Adelaide. Spit in their face if they want to play hardball and offer them our third round and expendables like Nason or Connors and hold out for PSD.

If we dont get him it's not the end of the world so go play hardball tiges. :thumbsu:

Exactly. This is a stop gap measure soley because he's a mobile unit who can solidly hold the fort with a strong body and agility while we develop. No star, and therefore no loss if Adelaide want to kid themselves.

this wont happen. I guarantee it.

Re: What is Maric Worth

Adelaide asking for a 1st round pick for Maric would be like us asking for a 1st round pick for McGuane.
Let's not forget how Essendon refused a 2nd round pick for Houli and we ended up getting him for nothing.

Re: Ivan Maric

First rounder is us just playing the game, I suspect we're after the compo pick, and will likely send something else your way to get it.

No it isn't.

There are plenty; Cameron Wood for a start.

Add Seaby to this - stuck behind Jolly but is not being lampooned the same way Maric is for being stuck behind Jacobs.

Not a lot required to improve on graham mate ............. Trust me im not a fan of his.

A slight improvement at what cost !! 2nd rounder like you say & i expect him to be dominating players like jacobs, hampson, mcevoy, griffin, lobbe etc.

You expect a second round pick to perform like these guys? Give you a tip, you want to trade for any of these guys you will be giving up more than a second round pick in a massively compromised draft. And several on that list will be first round trades in an uneffected draft.

It's not a bunch of kids trying to screw each other trading cards, we put up a fair offer, you demand something you will never get for him.
Refer to Houli last year we did the same as we have here we put our cards on the table and didn't budge with Essendon being unreasonable just like you are here.
We will not give you anything better then 37, which should be off the table if you guys don't get with the program ASAP. 37 or Connors

Re: What is Maric Worth

Jacobs had played all of 17 games as a 22 year old when we got him from Carlton. He wasn't proven or mature, and was traded for on upside alone.

Maric has played 77 games, and will be 26 by the start of next season - he's in his prime, what you see is what you get.

Forget about who you think is better (clearly Jacobs) and look at all the elements in the equation, and look at the market - Maric is clearly worth more than pick 37. History will tell you this, mature ruckmen rarely get traded for anything over about pick 30 unless they're a dead set charity case (like us with Griffin last year, or Steven King to St. Kilda a few years ago).
So by your theory!... Brock McLean is ahead of say Heppell? Brock McLean is worth more?

Cause Jacobs being a really good ruckman is no surprise. His improvement from 18 to 22 was remarkable. He destroyed the like of Mumford and never got beaten in his last year... Jacobs was really good and will only get better

Maric as you said, you know what you are going to get from him, which is nothing much but solid perfromances. All Tiges would want him for is just to atleast compete better than what they currently have so their really good midfield atleast has a chance to compete. Tiges will not win a flag with Maric as their number 1 ruck!

So I ask you again, do you really think Jacobs is worth less than Maric?

Re: What is Maric Worth

There are ten clubs with a pick before you in the PSD - will not work like if did with Houli.
And how many do you honestly think would take a player who seems keen to get to the Tigers? Port is a real possibility if it goes down the PSD route, but to be honest, I can't see Maric as the sort of player the Tigers would lose too much sleep over if he got "stolen" from us. Certainly most of us supporters wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Essendon thought the same thing.

Move along now. :thumbsu:

Re: What is Maric Worth

I dont think we plan on going that deep into this draft. We will get a 1st round pick of some description for Gunston. Pick 37 would then be no different to losing him in the PSD as we dont need it. We have already made 2 rookie upgrades. I do hope Maric gets to RFC though as he has the most heart at our club and deserves to be getting games. If not for the sub rule he wouldnt be leaving the club imo.

Re: Ivan Maric

We should be talking to Geelong now re Blake, he is in the same class as Maric and Geelong may be happy for the 2nd round pick. If nothing else it would put the wind up the crows and they may come back to the table.

Re: What is Maric Worth

Also, people need to understand that even if MAric doesnt get to richmond in the PSD and Port get him, richmond loses nothing.

The only club that loses in that scenarion is Adelaide.

Hope your thoughts are as sound and strong as the Richmond crew at Trade week. :thumbsu:

No we shouldn't

Just do nothing for a bit

The fear of losing Maric for nothing will be greater than our fear of the psd

Neither did Essendon when we offered pick 51 for Houli. . . . and then proceeded to delist more after trade week and used pick 64 & 80.

Re: Ivan Maric

these reports of adelaide asking for a 1st round pick for Maric if they are true does not surprise me because this is what all afl clubs do at same stage ask for over inflated price and than for the rest of the week the two clubs reject each other offers and than meet in the middle at what was seen has the most reasonable deal.

This happen last year with us regarding Jacobs, there were reports carlton were asking for a lst round draft pick or Talia in return this went on all trade week eventaully there accepted a 2nd round draft pick which was a good trade for a good ruckmen who was the 4th choice ruckmen.

Re: Ivan Maric

This is what i truly will be the final outcome probably thursday or friday. I can't think of any players that we would want that richmond would trade.

Maric to richmond
2nd round draft pick to Adelaide

You make your own opinon has too whether it is a win/win.

Do you think Jacobs is worth more than Hale?
