Yep. Development opportunities would have been there. Port were apparently critical of parts of his game, but he didn't feel he was being coached in those parts.
Soldo to St Kilda is Braydon-Preuss-level career development. Pick a club without a decent #1 ruck!

He's already sneaky old (29 around the time the season starts) so I don't think he cares much about career development, mainly wants to be back in Melbourne.
St Kilda don't have a decent #1 ruck, we have an elite 200cm on baller who competes in ruck contests.

Marshall is a great on baller (& lead up CHF!) but not a great tap ruckman.
There are quite a few circumstances where we require a tap ruckman.
