Ive decided NOT to go to the footy this year

Subiaco Oval is a disgrace. I refuse to pay $550 a year to watch 11 games in a 3rd world facility. I will only return to football in WA when we have a new stadium one that I will be proud to call a home ground

I've been watching local footy instead for years, tough contested footy, close to the action, great characters in the crowd, listen to 1/4 and 3/4 time addresses... and $2 tinnies! Try it... you won't go back.

Actually hold up at the moment is with the WAFC. They want it to be a redeveloped Subi because they hold the lease and can therefore dominate sport in WA - charge the Force and Soccer to use the ground and basically do as they like.

The WAFC won't commit to a new stadium elsewhere (unless they get control of the stadium as a mimimum). The Eagles want to stay at Subi too (because they have all there facilities there) and have a lot of sway at the WAFC. However the stadium task force said the proposition to redevelop Subi is a third rate patch up job.

So until the WAFC and the govt come to terms the govt can't do anything. Why build a stadium if football is not going to be played there? The WAFC have said they are quite happy to play at the 45,000 seat subi and charge extortionist prices rather than move to a new stadium and there is little the govt can do about it.

Over here it doesnt matter if Labor or Liberal, we have a shitty choice of politicians - there is no foresight, and our successive governments have always failed to get busy on building infrastructure. We suffer from planning constipation to be honest, and it drives most of us mad. .

I lived in perth for 10 years, its true, subi is a shithole and so is perth for that matter (no offense perthies)

its funny how WA is one of the wealthiest states yet has such third world culture.
