Roast I've lost my faith in Chris Davies

The irony is that Chris Davies really IS George Constanza; gaslighting us all, collecting an excessive wage, while achieving nothing.

At least Costanza made us all laugh. And the Yankees in that era kept on winning..

"I can't imagine that too many people would have had us in the position that we are we are .." - Chris Davies, June 7, 2024

"Eight and four has been a solid start but it’s nowhere near where we think we can get and where we want to get ....." - Chad Cornes, June 10, 2024

Roy posts a lot of Port Adelaide content, clearly is over Hinkley's extended stay and his enablers. This is quite good.

Posted that in the sack Hinkley thread Saturday night, but a bit more publicity doesnt hurt. Cindye from LA is brilliant. Stuck her Zak Butters bump on Banfield take in the Tribunal thread.

I think the 8 and 4 has set us up to play finals but that's all it is looking like at the moment, the 5-8 range seems the most likely scenario. By dropping the games we clearly should've won to Melbourne and the Crows we've made it really hard for ourselves to make top 2/4 (which clearly should've been the goal in the pre season). Not a huge amount of room for error now and our second half of the season draw is notably harder.

8 and 4 is the absolute bare minimum i would've hoped for at the start of season.
I really didn't care where we were at the mid season.

All I wanted to see was some semblance that we could handle the top teams to give a little hope we might stand up in finals.

Our record against the premiership fancies suggests that nothing has changed.

Mid season positions mean the type of Coke Ken drinks - Zero. St. Kilda won their first 20 games in 2009, but still didn't win the flag, and that remarkable winning streak doesn't change the fact that their premiership drought is 58 years and counting. We're currently at 20 years, and unless we change a lot of things, we'll be another St. Kilda.

Yep, i can see some selective statisticians that are pointing to the fact we are 3 and 2 against the current top 8 but i think the two real genuine premiership fancies in Carlton and Collingwood we've failed against miserably, and i don't rate any of the other 3 as premiership threats right now.

But then we couldn't even handle a dogshit Adelaide in a scary showdown or facing Melbourne at home for Easter before the season had exposed them as frauds.

If they can get their shit together i still see GWS as a threat, so this weekends game is another important test for me, but it's hard to ignore the fact that we keep failing these tests.

Last season at the end of the H&A we were 17-6 so given as a club we expected to improve this season 9-3 should be the minimum the club was expecting at the half way point. For Chris Davies to say that 8-4 is better than he thought we'd be at this point shows just how clueless he is.

Our win/loss numbers to date are a complete furphy! Its not about the numbers, its about the form getting there! Compare our form to Hawthorn's at the moment - It's not a stretch to come to the conclusion that they might actually finish the season with more wins than us. Their form leading up to this point is that much better!

Our forwards look disjointed & are inconsistent. Our backs are still gelling together, as are our mids. Our team defense is non-existent, and our depth is the same old discards that have failed to kick on, yet Ken keeps going back to that same dry well, time & time again, refusing to play the news boys on the list. On top of that, our game plan has been well-and-truly worked out by the two ex-Port coaches in Nicks & Voss, and is being copied by other teams.

Chris Davies might think we are well set up for the second half of the season, but he is delusional! In reality, we look like a team and club held together with sticky tape! Make no mistake, we have the cattle to compete in finals, but our coaching game plan, selections, and just about everything off-field, is just full of holes!

But hey ... "We are continuing to learn." - K Hinkley
Not to mention: "How's the stability".

Oh bugger. I mentioned it!

WE MADE DA FINALS WHAT ELSE DO YOUSE WANT! ONLY ALMOST HALF THE TEAMS GET TO DO THAT!

We have a thread called Making the Top 4 and building to a flag. 4TH is IRRELEVANT, MAKE IT TOP 3 for a reason.

Since 2000, if you don't finish the Minor Round in the Top-3, your chances of winning the flag have been neglectable.

We really have wasted two golden opportunities in 2020 and 2021. It's precisely where one wants to be to have a shot at a Premiership: top-3 finish; QF win; home PF. Yet, we choked. TWICE.

---

I still think that the 2004 Flag somehow changed the club for worse. We now have embedded a culture of thinking: "Look. We chocked in the early 2000, but we won the flag. Let's not change anything."

Of course, no one would want to have lost it. That's ridiculous. What we must do is simply recognize the issue and move the club back to its proper course.

I hate to say it, but we are closer to the wooden spoon than we are to a premiership. The cult syndicate of Alberton, which is our hierarchy, lives in a delusional world. Happy to live in a world where there is still a mathematical chance of winning a premiership. They honestly believe, hand on heart that we are on the cusp of winning a premiership. The footy department thinks a backline of Alilr, Ratagoula, Burton, BZT, and Dyl Williams is a premiership backline, along with Dixon, Marshall, Georgiades, McEntee, DBJ, and one of Rozee, Butters, or JHF at half forward is a premiership forward line. Let’s ignore the stats, ignore people in the footy industry who say we are a fake top 4 team like Jason Dunstall said two Thursdays ago after the loss against Carlton on Fox, or look at other teams who are really premiership teams or premiership-worthy teams like Sydney. No no no hierarchy believes we are on the cusp of a flag and don't even get me started about us, the fans, because we are just bloody white noise in their eyes and ears of that cult syndicate that runs our club. I fear for what the future of our club looks like. Take away Butters, Rozee, and JHF, and our team is mid-team tilling to the bottom 4. I just wish some Saudi prince who likes AFL buys our club, so hopefully they can send the cult syndicate of Alberton packing and we can go back once again to a ruthless footy club.

Take away Rozee, Butters and JHF and you get the football that we played today. All three were as good as absent, and we played a boring, insipid, rudderless style.

We had one forward look AFL competent (MG) and two defenders (Houston, Farrell). An entire midfield brigade, including wings, where every one of them failed to get more than 18 possessions.

We kicked 51 points against a team that has been losing almost every week on a day where it didn't rain.

But yeah, somehow we're supposed to feel good about ourselves.
