Opinion I've lost my faith in Ken Hinkley

Just watched Lade's press conference. Another display of loser mentality.

"We are looking for a good result....er sorry.....good showing this week against Collingwood."

"I wouldn't say this week is a must win game. There are still three matches to play.....we need one or two wins to make finals."

Is it any wonder our players don't win more than 1-2 in a row?

The language that comes from our coaches disgusts me. Apologetic losers the whole lot of them.

Agree. I watched that and found it entirely uninspiring. We saw a few areas that need improvement. Well thank goodness, I was worried that might have slipped past you.

I grew up following Sturt and took great pleasure beating Port because you knew they were the hardest team to beat. The 60s and 70s were just an amazing period in SA footy. What saddens me is the club I had a healthy respect for is now more a brand name, a corporate entity full of small town celebrities and empty cliches. All that's missing is the chardonnay. Prove me wrong Port Adelaide, grow a pair and make the tough calls.
60s and 70s was a great time for footy in SA. Never missed one of those port sturt games.
Sturt had the silky skills and class Port had the hard tough never say die attitude. Those days are dead and buried mate. Since ken has taken over i find it hard to get excited even when we win. I find myself thinking thank ×××× we won as it is more relief feeling than happiness. What happened on sunday would have been unacceptable in the past and you would have had pity for the team that had to front port the next week. Sadly that is also dead and buried and all teams fancy themselves when playing us. Its just not Port Adelaide anymore.

What aspects of Voss and Lade's coaching are you unhappy with?

Voss - Is supposed to be in charge of our midfield, is he not? Has our midfield made progress and improvement during the course of his tenure? Have any of our players improved and become indisputable midfield guns while he has been in charge? Our midfield is thoroughly mediocre, and we do not have the balance right between inside bulls, good extractors and outside runners - that is on Voss. We are also routinely out-coached in the midfield, letting loose players out the back and incorrectly setting up at stoppages - that is also on Voss. I have analysed our midfield setups before - namely, here when we got flogged a few years back by the Crows - and went into detail about the errors we were making in our structure and strategy. I can't be bothered doing it again, but suffice to say I have seen no evidence over the course of Voss' time with Port that he has the tactical nous to be a premiership winning coach.
I actually like Voss, don't get me wrong - if any of our failed coaching panel were to get shunted sideways rather than out, I would nominate him, because I can see him having a useful role in player development, or some similar role where he gets to work one-on-one with players and instil them with the basic principles of playing the game. But a strategic, tactical Phil Walsh he is most certainly not.

Lade - Totally unimpressed. I had misgivings to begin with over his appointment because, as I said in an earlier post, we have a massive problem at Port with bringing back ex-players and tolerating their mediocrity for far too long because 'they bleed Port Adelaide.' I don't care if you actually do bleed teal, if you're not the best person available for the job then gtfo. As for Lade - I have seen massive warning signs in our forward entries and general play that suggest he has brought back the Choco playbook of boundary-line-hugging, slow build-up, kick-to-the-pockets crap that saw us stagnate so heavily post 2007. I don't like the way he's taken front-and-centre in the coaches box next to Hinkley, I don't like his loser talk in interviews as pointed out by PJ a moment ago, and I don't like the Richmond-esque, play-it-safe mentality he's brought with him. Let's not forget as well that Paddy Ryder is one of the best rucks in the competition, so it's not as if he's got nothing to work with. Also, Richmond do not seem to have missed him at all.

And, even though you didn't ask:

Nicks - this guy is massively in my firing line. Why has he still got a job? Our forward line is an absolute shambles and I could not be less impressed with this guy. Just no.

Hart - It may be totally unfair, but I hold him responsible for Hinkley's medicated stupor post 'fist-shaking-incident.' I think he's thrown too many seeds. And not in a good way.

Just wait and see mate, his two favourite players jasper and trengrove are yet to sign.
I don't know if this is right or not but for the first time since Ken has taken over I wouldn't be upset if it was true.
We have no excuses for the tripe we got served up. Nearly no injuries and a very good list that should be vying for a flag.
I do question the timing of this post though, how long have you been sitting on this? BTW I'm not saying you're lying to us, I had a quick read through your recent posts and they seem genuine. The timing does raise eyebrows however.

Me too. Had the sudden urge to put my feet up and tuck into a chocolate sundae.

He's turned Dixon in to our Tredders, Mr Fix it, go up and get the ball like a true CHF and then double back to get it again as FF, no need to play another tall.

Except Dix isn't quite that good and the game is more defensive than it's ever been, meaning a one man band is gonna get worked out pretty quick.
Good spot. Last 8 weeks Dixon has pushed up. Dixon isn't a shoelace on tredrea

And Sam gray is not a key forward

I am not defending Nicks: Having our forwards plugging holes in the midfield & extras in defense, has not helped.

Hart - I always thought he was a mistake...for various reasons. His time at Gold Coast. Plus political aspirations. Who needs a politician.

I was told this about 3 weeks ago and I brushed it off but it's becoming more evident by the day. The lack of change the last few weeks when things aren't happening on field suggests ken's already switched off
