Am I wrong to be cynical of politicians? Does Jacinda Ardern get a free pass for being nice?
Mistrusting politicians is probably one of the sanest things you could do in this often insane world, but I think in an incident like this and from what little I know of Jacinda (children were among the murdered and she having recently gave birth herself) her reaction was from the heart and not from the polling numbers tally.
It's not a free pass for life, but yeah. She gets a pass from me for the now.
I suppose it depends on your own interior political weather as much as anything.

I don't doubt the sincerity of her response to the horrible events in Christchurch. Far more personable than 'I know the Imam' ScoMo.
Overall she strikes me as a bit of a Justin(e) Trudeau. His approval rating has dropped ~30% in 3 years in office as people have woken up to the fact that just saying nice things doesn't get the job done.
She's still fairly new so has time on her side but 'look at me, I'm young, I'm a mother, I'm progressive' will only buy a grace period that lasts so long.

But isn't she the strongest and bravest leader of the free world? Doesn't she need to lead us in these tough times?
Oddly she tried to draw parallels between Sri Lanka and Christchurch, very irresponsible I'd say consider Christchurch was a single unhinged individual whereas Sri Lanka was an organized group. Only similarity is killing people at their place of worship, belittles the nature of the latest attacks.
