I bet I can find people who lived in Camberwell's dry area of the early 1900's complaining about the bullshit urban sprawl of Vermont. There's enough in the UGB until 2060 if we really want to keep going with the sea of suburbia bullshit.

According to our esteemed premier anyone against the renaming of the lake at Berwick Springs to Guru Nanak Lake is a Neo Nazi.
Seems a bit extreme to call the thousand odd people that have signed a petition to stop the new name of the lake as neo nazisIn fairness, neo-nazis did turn up to the rally that was there. But it’s been confirmed that they weren’t even relevant, invited or part of the actual rally about the change of name.
Sounds like it was just a chance for Allan to make mention of it.

But to tar everyone who signs a petition as one? I signed it and I am certainly not a neo naziNa there’s more to it than just a petition. They rocked up to a rally.

It's a strange call to rename the lake after someone who has nothing to do with the local area to start with.According to our esteemed premier anyone against the renaming of the lake at Berwick Springs to Guru Nanak Lake is a Neo Nazi.

Since when has Berwick Springs had a bad reputation? Have lived there for years with no issuesBerwick Springs has an awful, awful reputation. Changing the name would benefit everyone. Better still, level the place and start again. Starting with the pokies monstrosity which was the first thing there, and centre of the township.

Berwick Springs is fine. There's a lot worse out thereBerwick Springs has an awful, awful reputation. Changing the name would benefit everyone. Better still, level the place and start again. Starting with the pokies monstrosity which was the first thing there, and centre of the township.
I built a good chunk of it, and it's as bad as everything else around it, for sure. But I find it hard to imagine that there are people with an emotional attachment to either name or location or any physical feature.Berwick Springs is fine. There's a lot worse out there
You'd be suprised what local people get upset about.I built a good chunk of it, and it's as bad as everything else around it, for sure. But I find it hard to imagine that there are people with an emotional attachment to either name or location or any physical feature.
Unless they named their kid Blitz after getting knocked up in the Zagames carpark?
Maybe it's from spending lockdown walking round the lake cos it's the only park in the area.
What % of them would be upset that Berwick Springs is losing that name, or the fact that the new name is not an anglo one? You'd be suprised what local people get upset about.
I doubt it is many. Just the local busybodies. What % of them would be upset that Berwick Springs is losing that name, or the fact that the new name is not an anglo one?
My guess, knowing people out that way, it would be 90% about the new name being non-anglo and they have no attachment to the name Berwick Springs at all.
It's probably the same ones who complained when they rebuilt the roundabout at the entrance.I doubt it is many. Just the local busybodies.
Most will still just call it "Berwick Springs Lake" like how people still call Southern Cross station "Spencer St"
Still ahead by a year though. Tunnel was planned for 2026. Brought forward to 2025.Wow
New documents reveal stations on the $15bn Metro Tunnel have been delayed by a year, piling pressure on to the Allan Government’s promise to run trains by the end of 2025.
A contract variation tabled in parliament shows a provisional handover of the infrastructure to operators is now planned for 30 April — 12 months later than the date published previously.
It also shows details of the taxpayer contribution for blowouts worth $837 million that the Government revealed on AFL Grand Final eve, including $745m in capital costs.

Provisional/Final acceptance and actual passenger services running are two separate things. Passenger services run after Provisional acceptance.
I know for a fact driver training has commenced.
Here's the actual document for those who don't want to read the papers.

It's full of campaigners imo.Since when has Berwick Springs had a bad reputation? Have lived there for years with no issues
I think from memory they were aiming for mid year. At least that's what the auditor generals last report had it as.The Stations are finished by April 2025, trains are already running through the tunnel regularly.
I'm guessing the trains will be running with passengers by Q3 in 2025? Haven't been to a station site in a while, surprised they're so close to being finished.
