Traded Jack Bowes [Traded to Geelong with #7 for F3]

For clarity a club can only go into deficit if all their points fall short in that trade period.

So if Ashcroft is after discount 2,400points and Fletcher ( pick match at 18 ) that = approximately 800 points required.

Lions as of today have 2516 points but must trade something to the hawks for Gunston or lose the McStay compo ( included in above)

Left over points = 116 or pick = 62. ( probably not enough for Gunston )

So all points in 2022 are wiped out at the start of the draft.

800 points required for Fletcher = pick 23 in the draft. Or between a F1 and 2. With lions tipped to finish top 4 any club trading a pick 23 In This years draft would want the lions F1 ( 15-18).

With the above in mind what do the Lions have to offer the Dogs for Dunkley that needs to happen in the next 7 days ( well before the draft)
Take it to the Dunkley thread. It's been discussed en masse there.

I'm just gonna end this thread now - pick whatever one you want and use it as you see fit :)

Essendon have snared Bowes in a surprise twist after hiring/sacking Andrew Thorburn and only just hiring their coach on Friday! Miracles do exist!

...

Hawthorn are primed to surge back up the ladder with Scrimshaw now set to play alongside his mate Bowes for the next decade!

...

Geelong have pulled off another recruiting steal, by getting Bowes and Pick 7 for their Future 2nd - what a whirlwind fortnight for the Cats faithful!

...

North in a twist of trade period have offered significant terms, and have Steven Bradbury'd their way to the front - what a shock!

Without the pick or the big contract is he worth any more than Setterfield?
Interesting question to ask, would have thought similar. Although Bowes has probably played more consistently for GC.
The careers of Setters, Bowes and Brodie are pretty facinating. All the same draft, were all top ten talents, similar size/preferred position-and all have had so many ups and downs to date.

After the JHF debacle you reckon North want another pick 1?

They realise now they let Pies off cheaply by not bidding Daicos at pick 1 - as they should have.

Brisbane in strife if Ashcroft is pick 1 and Fletcher gets a late first round bid which will deficit their 2023 first
in strife? settle now. We can go into defecit. Wont really bother us.

Potentially a bloody good move by Hawthorn.
We just happen to have plenty of salary cap room due to a young list, front-ended contracts and a below-average midfield.

It's not a good move from anyone, it's the luckiest deal in history.

Right place right time.
Nowhere near as lucky as Geelong swapping pick 27 for pick 12 (or whatever) and 64 from GCS. Let alone as lucky as if they get Bowes+7 as well. (The difference is also Bowes very large contract dump.)

Gold Coast are a hot mess. Maybe Dodoro could help them sort it out?

As the new CEO?

Hearing he will nominate Hawthorn (from someone whose intel has usually been very reliable)
Where all men with the character flaw of having no character go to play football.

Can you count to potato?

I would be guessing that the Cats offer for the last 2 years of a 4 year deal was say 300 per year with the deal to be smoothed over 4 years. I am guessing the Hawks would be more like 500 per year for years 3 and 4 with no smoothing or maybe even a little from loading. So about 400 k more than Geelong, maybe a bit more even.

Thats more money than Bowes could have ever dreamed about. And in the back of his mind would be that he could not work back to best 22 at the Suns this year. If I was his manager I'd have to say its Hawthorn all the way.

There's no reason not to take the money really. He would be crazy not to, I would do the same in his position.
