To all the conspiracy nuts, I'm just gonna keep posting this whenever you post nonsense:
**************************************************************
Lol, we'll basically have no highly paid senior players in 3-4 years time bar maybe Stewart and Jez Cameron.
Danger - 950K
Selwood - 500K
Hawkins - 300K
Duncan - 700K
Blics - 700K
Guth - 700K
Rohan - 300K
I. Smith - 500K
Stanley - 400K
Dahl - 500K
Higgins - 500K
Tuohy - 500K
Menegola - 400K
Ceglar - 300K
There's over 7 MIL out of our cap alone there - going off the reports of what has been said about our players and what they're getting paid (approx estimate). That's the thing that people don't get - you can't call us a retirement home and then cry 'rigged' when all our old players retire and we suddenly have cap. Players like Hopper and Grundy have both knocked us back, due to either money or lifestyle reasons - but we made plays for them as well.
Any club that has that amount of retirements in such a short amount of time, will be absolutely flush with cash. Look at what has happened to Hawthorn. If we had of finished outside the Top 8 and brought in all these young guns, no-one would have batted an eyelid - as it's all perception. The Premiers should not be able to win a flag, and then have a ton of cap space. But because we have a bunch of oldies who will all retire over the next 3-4 years
We'll have literally next to no-one left from when Danger came into the club at the end of 2015. THAT is why we have so much cap space. I know it's not 'edgy' or 'conspiratorial', it's just basic math and the luck of how our list structure has worked out. Had we failed in our quest for the flag like the Hawks and Eagles did when topping up, then no-one would care or be the least bit surprised that we'd have so much cap. They'd just be like 'yep they have a bunch of kids and all their stars are gone, so it makes sense they can make these moves...which is exactly what was being said about Essendon and Hawthorn today.
Youre assuming no-one asks for a payrise over the next 2 years?
