In breaking news.... Jack Darling returned to training but was intercepted by what one excited onlooker described as a UFO that was cylinder shaped with what looked like a needle shaped nose cone.

When asked to elaborate in greater detail, she said "a purple light came down from the middle of the cylinder and just lifted Jack aboard. I then turned to my hubby and said look darling, a spaceship with a sharp prick at the front and a dumb prick in the middle".

Somehow, I always knew Jack darling was a massive soft ****.

It wasn't the dropped marks in finals or the rubber chest, but something more intestinal telling me this bloke is premadonna and a ****ing joke.

If ever team needed him it's now.

We could not have more injuries, we need our senior players to stand up and help.

Where is Jack Darling when we need him.
We need you now Jack, where is your heart?

So with Dixon being reported as given the Nod for a rookie spot - that is the nail in the JD coffin.
Or was Dixon just too good in the Praccy match, they had to offer him the spot. Despite the need for mids.

Was Dixon even that good or was he just better than the steaming turd that the rest of the squad played like

Probably the second, and knowing our recruiters and coaching staff they thought 'imagine if we got more supply - he would have been the best forward ever' (of course, few of our draftees who had junior injuries are ever injury free, and few players are ever able to replicate a few moments over the whole game with more supply).

In recruiting players we seem to extrapolate moments more than we value consistency. So someone doing something to an elite level once or twice a game is almost preferred to someone doing things to an AFL standard level 30 times a game.

Don't think it's his stats that caught the eye of people.

I think it was the obvious improvement in his running ability and work-rate that impressed. Was at AFL key forward level imo.

He's always had sticky hands and good skills, but wasn't in good enough shape to maximize his talents.

Fingers crossed he can keep it up. We need him to with JK being so old and JD being JD.

Well that’s a big kick in the nuts for waterman and the millions of followers he has on this site

It’s a thread about Darling and you reply to a post about Dixon just to have a crack at Waterman.

Obsession.

Strange take...

The inclusion of a #2 key forward (or #1... if he works out to be that good then that is excellent) is a bad thing for a guy that is clearly only built to be a 3rd tall...

If anything, it is a great thing for Waterman. His issue is more when he has to play as a key tall at AFL level (not tall enough, nor strong enough). Playing as a tweener like Mihocek, Tom Lynch (adel), Rohan etc is his go.

I know it's hard to split the two, but I thought he was very good. Made the most of limited opportunities, he didn't do much wrong (apart from first set shot). In saying that I'd make the call on him after this next game, as sometimes you get a flash in the pan.

Have the Eagles started to do team store Eagles branded masks yet? If so I'd be keen to order one with #27 on it.
I think they're looking at Eagles branded paper bags this season
