I don't foresee the AFL itself lifting mandates until Australia and the states lift their mandates for travel.

Once WA (let's face it, we're going to be the last ones to do so) drop vaccination requirements for entry, the AFL could make a case for dropping theirs - it won't be happening in the next three months though, minimum. That would take us halfway into the AFL season.

This assumes there is a player out there that could be poached using Darling's money. So far, no-one has offered any credible suggestions on who that player might be. You'd assume the list manager would have some pretty good ideas, though, if they've been doing their research.

The Free Agent list is quite average this year (unless we want another +30yo player).

Not sure about 2023, but I'd expect it would be much better (which would not be hard)

So we keep him and he is sh!t, or we delist him and he is an AA forward?

There is a middle ground there (or even if the other extremes line up - delist and no good, or keep and a superstar).

Just like COVID is relatively new, so are vaccine mandates. They may or may not change, but for 1 year and $30k (and it doesn't cost us a list spot) it would be foolish to delist him just to make an example.

Is he going to be part of our next flag? At 31, unlikely. If he has value, trade him. If other clubs are likely to be wary, then cut him and save the cash.

If we put him on inactive, I guarantee we will be keeping him long term because of the sunk costs fallacy.

So given we are still yet to hear from the club and the list deadline is fast approaching, i am assuming they are waiting until the last possible hour to move Jack to the inactive list right?

For a guy who put himself well above the club in all this, he has been afforded a lot of leeway and goodwill

It's almost as if he's a premiership player and All Australian who's been our leading goalkicker on multiple occasions...

All states bar Wa have already dropped their travel mandates.

We’ve got until Wednesday to make a call, once made that call will be pretty much locked in for the season.

Things change fairly rapidly with Covid, we’ve seen plenty of examples of that over the last two years.

Why exactly are people complaining that we haven’t pulled the trigger now, as opposed to two days from now?

You would imagine their respective managers would have made the appropriate inquiries within the AFL. Because you are right, it would look like the mother of all career blunders otherwise.
I expect there was some financial settlement their way as part of the retirement decision.

Getting my booster next week and it looks like it'll be Novovax. Someone get me Jack's number and I'll tell him which burger goes best with it afterwards.

so the flogs last week going on about maybe the eagles havent been reaching out and should rock up on his doorstep...what say you now his manager is saying even he hasnt had contact from free man of the land jack?

Enough of this jokers shenanigans just dump his ass already. I’m sure Cole will be more than happy rehabbing on a reduced wage while this turkey gets to kick back and eat pancakes all day on full coin. He’s a lost cause

Whoa whoa whoa, what's going on with pancakes?

I saw a post today on Facebook that featured someone putting tuna inside pancakes.

Good Bye Reaction GIF

I'll allow duck, but not tuna
I was just about to declare savoury food has no place inside pancakes, but you've saved me from that folly, although duck being my favorite protein I would probably eat it with anything.
